I encourage everyone to tune in to 91.9 FM WUOT tomorrow March 12th for the "Afternoon Concert" hosted by our KSO colleague Garrett McQueen. Beginning at 1pm, he will be featuring a harp concerto every hour of the program! It will be some wonderful listening!! Thanks Garrett!

I've been enjoying the lovely flowers I received from St Elizabeth's Episcopal Church after playing Benjamin Britten's "Ceremony of Carols." The choir, lead by music director Liz F, did a fantastic job with this beautiful work for harp and choir!

A big thanks to Elizabeth who came all the way from Cincinnati to play 2nd harp in Richard Strauss's "Tod and Verklarung" (Death and Transfiguration) on November's Masterworks concerts! It's always great to have a harp "section" and be with someone who understands the harp's idiosyncrasies. Elizabeth played on her gorgeous gold Horngacher, the epitome of German engineering for harp!

The newly revived East Tennessee Chapter of the American Harp Society hosted an exciting event this past weekend. Abigail Kent, the new AHS Concert Artist, came to Knoxville and presented a MasterClass and solo recital to the delight of all in attendance. We were so pleased to have her perform locally, and wish her great success as she concertizes throughout the US! Special thanks to Karoline, Jackie, William and Megan who organized the event!!

So it appears the first Harry Potter/KSO presentation was such a success, that the second film is already scheduled for January 2018! All harpists who haven't performed this, beware!! Hidden within the 150 pages of glissandos and otherwise normal John Williams harp writing is a monster harp solo innocuously titled "Fluffy's Harp." You have been warned!

Before it gets any later, I'd like to mention a few highlights this Fall, starting with 2 performances that were thrilling for me. With the talented musicians of the Symphony of the Mountains, I was able to share a fantastic piece - Gabriel Pierne's Concertstuck for Harp and Orchestra. The audiences loved it! Thanks Cornelia for scheduling and conducting this work!
