Animals Week! The kids loved making different animal masks to try on new identities 🦁❤️

We are winding up our school year and preparing for summer camps!! We have tour spaces available next week on Mon, Tue and Wed at 12:30pm to visit with the teachers and explore our beautiful nature playscape. One grandma today called it “Paradise!”

Bugs and Insect week! 🐌This was the week that 2 children found ammonite fossils while digging on site! They are extinct marine mollusks, related to modern squid and octopuses that lived 400-66 million years ago. So cool!!

We also made sticky spider webs, egg carton butterflies, found bugs hiding in bath bomb flowers and learned how to draw different bugs with a directed drawing lesson!

Plant Week 🌿 the weather started to warm up and spring began to settle into the school site and Forest! We took the time to identify poison ivy with the children and teach them how to avoid it. It’s also the part of the semester where their friendships have really blossomed!

We have 2.5 more weeks for this semester before we host our End of the Year Art Show! We take a week break and then are back at it again with summer camps starting the first week of June. We still have quite a few spots in camps, particularly on Tuesdays for the 3-6 year olds and Mon/Wed for the 5-10 year olds. Reach out to schedule a personal tour this month ❤️

Water Week 💦We made dandelion jelly, created dripped watercolor paintings, explored the life cycle of a frog, created wood vehicles, hiked to the top of the mountain, brought out the water table again and subsequently made quick sand in the sandbox! Each day is a different adventure where the kids can explore, problem solve and think creatively 💛

“Landscape” Week is easy to learn about when your school is on 55 acres with lots of different kinds of landscapes. Forests, mountain, grasslands, oh my!

We love this beautiful forest and ecosystem and enjoy creating art to honor the way the land shapes are lives 💚

We painted in the woods, went on hikes, worked on a collaborative mixed media collage, and created our own smaller landscapes!

Feelings Week! It is important to help kids manage their feelings by validating their emotions, teaching them to name their emotions, and providing a calm, supportive space. All feelings are temporary, it is okay to feel sad or angry, and talking about emotions makes them less overwhelming.

During class we felt joyful with slime, collaged feeling masks, celebrated a birthday, made faces with play doh and manipulatives, read stories about different types of feelings, and used magnets and art to portray different emotions.

During this week of class, we cooked cinnamon and honey apples over the fire, made little hedgehogs, hiked in the woods, burrowed in the sandbox, engaged in lots of superhero play, made birdseed pinecone feeders for the birds, splashed in puddles, painted our fabric collaged houses, and made texture stamped ornaments.

Everyday is a new adventure! We have a schedule that scaffolds our time, but we are always responding to the needs and interests of the individual kids in class. 💚

Our days at Corelli are spent in childhood bliss! Jumping in puddles, being silly with friends, creating art, investigating worms, listening to stories, climbing trees, dressing up and swinging really high 🤩 It’s all just a fraction of the fun and learning we observe along the way.

We’d love for you to join us in our half day nature art classes in East Knoxville! We’ve got space to start right away in both the 3-6 year old class as well as the 5-10 year old class. We operate Mon- Thurs, 9-12pm and you can attend 1 to 4x a week! Scholarships are available too ☺️

We celebrated “Friends and Family” week towards the end of the year. We focused on making gifts and presents for family members like Instant Simmer Pot kits and handmade soap. We wrapped them in stamped paper we made ourselves! The end of the semester also marked deeper friendships with classmates 💚

We have select spots to join for the current semester! When it comes to interest in Summer Camps/Fall Enrollment, we will open that up to current families first in the Spring and then new families secondly. We will announce that once we finish up prep on our end. If you want your name at the beginning of the waitlist, reach out to schedule a tour sooner rather than later!
