We Love Opera
The Knoxville Opera Camerata is a volunteer organization whose mission is to promote the appreciation of that magical combination of voice, music and drama called opera and support the production of this wonderful art form in the greater Knoxville area. Through a variety of fund raising events which include an Annual Gala Ball, an Annual Martini Party and an Annual Croquet Tournament
, the Camerata raises in excess of one hundred thousand dollars annually for Knoxville Opera. Also, working in conjunction with Knoxville Opera, the Guild provides an education program in our community schools and civic centers that is designed to foster an appreciation of opera. We Foster Young Talent
The Knoxville Opera Camerata works with regional and national organizations to encourage and support aspiring young operatic talent. This is particularly evident in our annual involvement with the Metropolitan Opera National Council District Auditions program and in our support of the University of Tennessee School of Music’s Opera Theater program. Where Opera Lovers Meet
The Camerata also provides a social structure within which opera lovers can network. This is achieved through the organization of such events as cast parties which welcome visiting performers of Knoxville Opera productions, pre-opera dinners prior to performances of Knoxville Opera, Monday Night Opera dinners at local restaurants that feature operatic performances, and other informal gatherings that often include some sort of artistic performance.
