I'm so back! I do these Tattoos purely out of enjoyment. People love getting them, and I love giving them! They last nearly 2 weeks. All natural product. Plus introducing my new brand, with all things coastal, BougieBoho. Come see me this July, details 👇

Apparently yoinking out the carpet was not enough for me. I have moved on to the ceiling as my next target. Give it the ol industrial vibe for some razzle dazzle. I am so excited for how this studio is going to come together Creative Wellness -Knoxville - Therapeutic Art

Been catching up posting about old projects but one of my current tasks has been to finish the studio at Creative Wellness -Knoxville - Therapeutic Art. Things have been quiet over there ever since I had the carpet ripped out and haven't been able to finish the floors. Today at 5pm I decided.....let's do it. I'd been contemplating hiring someone but sometimes it's just easier to get it done myself.

Home depot order placed
Order picked up
Arrived at studio
Painted floors
Done!

I am excited but there's still lots to be done before I'm seeing clients there again

It's 7am and what better time to squeeze in another content-catch up while things are still quiet. This was back in March! My daughter and I attended the Synergy exhibit at the Clayton Center for the Arts together, where our artwork was chosen for the exhibition. This exhibit showcased educators and their students' works. She is a part of my after school art classes and I have been teaching her there for 2 years alongside other students.

When I entered our artwork, I made sure to note that on hers, she added a snow texture medium, which improved upon my original design. I felt this is exactly the meaning of synergy between an instructor and a student.

Extra special since I am her mom! People often ask me, "does she like art?" Since I am an artist. I always say "yes, she has a lot of fun with it but I've never pressured her to like it." In fact, for probably the 1st 5 or 6 years of her life, I never supplied much more than materials to her. I just let her develop her own style, which still shows up in her art. Very bold and energetic just like her personality!

Very inspiring to see the work of students. To see that the arts and inspiration is still very much alive in kids.

Eventually I will have ATR-BC, LPC behind my name (Art Therapist - board certified, and Licensed Professional Counselor).

Woohoo!

When I am done with this, I will have not one, but TWO Master's level credentials. Because I like the hard route 😂 (I'm not moving to Santa Fe though, it's online).

I had to seriously consult myself and God about if I really want to commit to this for 3 years, is it worth it, will it pay of, etc. I decided even if it weren't I would be upset with myself in my old age if I didn't do what I've been trying to do my whole life. So after much ado, arranging the financials, applying--which meant pulling 10+ year old transcripts from multiple universities, writing statements and essays and putting together a portfolio, interviews, etc! All in the middle of mom life, work, etc it's done!

I can tell that this school is a great fit and I appreciate their methodologies. My first college was a traditional college, this one is more personalized.

I knew when MTSU was the one. I didn't even tour anywhere else for undergraduate. I felt the same about this school! I knew what I wanted. Geting those same memories crop up from when I was accepted to undergrad when I was 18.

It just hits different when you bet on yourself and you win. Always bet on yourself or make yourself into a good bet.

Thanks to anyone who has supported me this far, in any type of way. It means the world and I try to give it back 10x. Or if you didn't support me, that helps me too. Either way ❤️

These are all from my neighbors

I am NOT complaining at all! Because just today I was thinking perhaps God cursed my green thumb so that I'd focus only on art. If I had a green thumb I'd probably get too wrapped up in that instead.

Changing payment method to: will accept flowers

It was a beautiful weekend!

I have been quiet lately cause I've just been regrouping. Which I do frequently. I've missed just doing whatever I want with my art. So here are a few pics from my weekend just doing whatever I want with it just because I can.

Exhibit A). I went to a friend's house and was inspired by color changing fishing lures? Lol. So now they're art. Because I can. Work in progress. Haven't done block printing since high school!

Exhibit B). A 20 minute sketch of some flowers and wine while we sat outside enjoying the weather. Because I can. I just reached for whatever supplies were nearby. I realized I cant always have the perfect setup or it will never get made.

Exhibit C). The neighborhood kids painting on some plastic wrap I put on the carport posts. Because I can. They have their stash of washable paint, brushes and aprons in my garage. They had fun just having at it!

I have so much content to catch up on. So much has happened in the past couple of months! I just put my head down and took things day by day, that's all we can do sometimes. There isn't always time to post everything we do.

Well I'm in luck, because as I'm moving out of a season of hard work and into a period of rest, the tear in my hip cartlidge is forcing me into slowing down for a bit. That's the way of life! If you don't slow down, your body will force you to at some point. But ask any good athlete and they know all about work/rest/recovery...it's a cycle, not an end.

Just a few art things that I've done in the past few months, but haven't posted much about:

💫 Taught Starry Night at Arrowmont to a group of 5-6 year olds and their parents

🎨 Attended the Dogwood Arts Synergy exhibit where mine and my daughter's work was displayed

🌊 Completed a large mural project (had to enlist the help of a very awesome friend!)

🌳 Taught Happy Trees at Arrowmont to a group of 7 adults living with disabilities

📝 Finished/submitted my grad school application for my Master's program

🖌 Made 2 new instructor copy paintings

And just being a mom of 2 kids in between. Like the kind of mom-ing where youre making a cake at 7am for a forgotten about 4H competition, and theres a rehearsal tonight too. With a torn hip and a 2 year old propped on on it (nbd) 😅

In the middle of it all I'm reallllly trying to develop a green thumb this spring but I just simply dont have one. Willing to trade art skills for gardening skills.

Yall will see me on crutches sometime when i get this surgery. Probably still finding a way to teach art
