There is a lot of talk this week about the state removing business restrictions regarding Covid -19 here in Tennessee. I'm not sure exactly what that will mean for tattoo studios in Knoxville, (as far as what KCHD will allow,) but we have decided to continue to operate under the current procedures we have been following since April, at least for the time being. All of us here are, or have people in our lives who would be considered "at risk" for Covid complications, as I'm sure many of our clients do. Sure, the masks are uncomfortable, and the closed lobby and limited occupancy is inconvenient at times, but I feel that these are small sacrifices to make that we may continue to offer our services in what we feel is the safest way possible.

So keep hitting us up via email to make those appointments and we'll keep showing up to make you prettier, or tougher looking, or both.

Hey look! Due to Covid-19 we are now a fancy private appointment only studio!

According to the powers that be, True Blue Electric Tattoo will be able to operate on an appointment only basis as of May 1st. This means that we will be able to get back to tattooing y'all, but there are gonna be some significant changes to operation and procedures to minimize the impact of Covid-19 for all of us:

1. APPOINTMENT ONLY.
We will not be taking walk in business at this time. You must have an appointment for any in-person interaction at the shop. This includes consulting that can't be accomplished online.

2. THE LOBBY IS CLOSED.
When you arrive for your appointed time, please remain in the parking lot until your tattooer comes to let you in. You will have to leave your friends and families and videographers and whatnot behind. Only the client getting tattooed can come in the shop. The doors will be locked. We have to minimize contact and sanitize everything between clients, so we need to keep traffic down to the bare minimum. No drop bys. No hang outs. No squads, peeps, or entourages.

3. MASKS!!!!
We will be wearing masks. You will be wearing a mask. You will need to provide your own mask, and wear it throughout the appointment. We will pretend to be bandits. All of us. (This also means you can't bring any food or drink inside. I know, the bandit thing doesn't really make up for this, but it is what it is.)

4. HANDWASHING/SANITIZING
We will do a lot of it. You should too. In fact, as soon as you arrive we ask that you use the sanitizer before you touch anything. And after. And during. We are gonna limit where you can go in the shop, and what you can touch. Please don't take it personally. We actually prefer the nonchalant carefree laidbackedness way of interacting with y'all, but times is strange and we have to adapt.

5. HOW TO MAKE AN APPOINTMENT
At this time, the best way to make an appointment will be by directly contacting your tattooer by email. We are unlikely to answer the shop phone for a while due to not being in unless we have appointments, though you can leave a message. You can also message the shop page.

6. OTHER STUFF
There will be other stuff. Stuff I forgot to mention here. Stuff the health department may add later. Maybe a new bit of paperwork. We might have to check your temperature. There's stuff we have to do that you probably won't notice much. We appreciate all y'all who let us tattoo ya, and appreciate your patience as we navigate our way to the new normal.

(Bonus: Look at my dog looking dumber than usual. Slightly.)

The Governor just stated that it would still be "at least a couple more weeks" before tattoo studios will be phased in to the economic reboot and be allowed to open. I know. I know. You miss us! We miss you, too! We are eager to get back to tattooing y'all safely. My dogs are tiring of my jokes* and could care less about my 80s pop culture references and Letterkenny quotes...

Hey Knoxville!
Meet my Safer at Home coworkers for the next two weeks (minimum.) Like the rest of you, I will miss Cari ([email protected]) and Maya ([email protected]) during our extended mandated hiatus. But remember, we can be reached by email to discuss future tattoo work, (and we all have paypal accounts attached to these email addresses if want to offer tips or deposits or whatever. )

After much consideration, we have decided to suspend lobby hours at True Blue until April 1st so that our tattooers can control their own response to the Covid-19 virus. Y'all can still get a hold of your artist by email for appointment setting and consultations etc. and Troy will monitor messaging to the shop page. This has not been an easy decision, but it feels like the responsible choice. We would rather over react and look silly than under react and regret it... Lord knows we ain't scared to look silly.
