BIO:
“Colleen is a cellist and singer-songwriter who has called Knoxville home for five years. Drawing influences from her classical training and love for jazz, folk, and r&b, she loves to explore how cello fits into a more modern, coffehouse-style sound.

Originally from the Northern Virginia/DC area, Colleen attended Ithaca College in upstate NY for music, before moving to Knoxville in July of 2020. Attending open mics and getting to know the musical community was how she ultimately learned to improvise, and met some of her greatest musical friends in Tennessee.

Colleen spends most of her musical time playing and touring with local folk band, Redd & the Paper Flowers, but performs as a solo/duo under the name Stranger May. She spends her time in Knoxville teaching, writing, making coffee, working with the youth orchestra, walking her dog, and listening to local artists.

Colleen is currently writing her next EP, set to release early 2026 ;) “

“I am a 20 year old musician originally from rural Indiana. I now live in Knoxville and studied music and graduated at Johnson University. I have been releasing music under my own name since I was 16 years old. I love to record on analog equipment and tape. I am inspired by bands like The Beach Boys, Bob Dylan, Mac Demarco, and The Velvet Underground.“

“Ben McLaughlin offers music that sounds like an electrified awakening earned within a psychedelic-folk odyssey.

At his core, McLaughlin is a songwriter, tethered to the ethers as much as his human vessel; an audible translator from his small corner of the universe. Sewn throughout his newest batch of songs, is the mourning of the inevitable winds of change through Self and family structures, the walking hand-in-hand with one’s own inner child, and at the end of it all, coming to a place of peace with how things are Now.

A multi-instrumentalist and audio engineer, he self-produces the songs he has written within the meditative state, weaving together melodic thoughts of self- and environmental-dissection with organic production. Reminiscent of a time when vinyl was king, the final results extend an open hand to the listener to experience an authenticity that allows them to lovingly transcend to their own higher essence.”

“Matthew Steven Whitaker is a singer-songwriter from Knoxville, Tennessee, whose music blends indie folk, R&B, and light rock. By day, he works as an engineer—but his true passion lies in creating songs that speak to the heart. For over a decade, Matthew has been crafting music rooted in soul, introspection, and storytelling, drawing from personal experiences with love, loss, and healing.

His 2022 EP Hollow Voices, along with several singles, is available on all major streaming platforms. Influenced by everything from classic soul to modern alt-folk, his sound embraces vulnerability and connection—inviting listeners into a shared space of reflection. He’s currently tracking his debut full-length album, set to release in 2026.”

“Shayla McDaniel is an indie pop/rock singer-songwriter, multi-instrumentalist and producer, crafting music to soundtrack your life. The Knoxville, TN-based laid back artist’s pristine vocals, breezy pop grooves, big hooks, and soaring melodies contribute to her pop allure. Her music has been featured on MTV, Disney+, The CW and retail and dining spaces around the world. Up next, she will be playing local and regional shows with her band, as well as intimate solo performances for her ever-growing audience.”

“Crystal Dougan is a local singer songwriter in Knoxville, TN. She performs with Americana and Folk cover band Local Lore and sings regularly at her home church. She is at her happiest when she is belting out a song as loud as she can. Her musical inspirations range from Joy Williams to Michelle Branch to Hayley Williams. She enjoys writing songs with her boyfriend, making memories with her kids, performing with her bandmates, and spoiling any animal she comes across. If all goes according to plan, hopefully you can look for her music on streaming platforms this summer or early fall.”
