Please join us in welcoming Dr. Sara Beth Carroll, who has been selected as the new Head Director for the Farragut High School Choral Program!
Dr. Carroll is an energetic music educator who is passionate about vocal music and engaging with students. She comes to Farragut from The University of Tennessee, where she served as Director of Admissions and Student Success for the Natalie L. Haslam College of Music. Prior to her move with her family to the South in 2022, Dr. Carroll was a high school choral director in Washington State. Dr. Carroll directed classical choirs and jazz choirs, taught class piano, developed and taught a special education music class, and served as musical director for school musicals. Before her teaching tenure in Eastern Washington, Dr. Carroll worked as an Advising and Recruiting Specialist for the Department of Music at Central Washington University, her alma mater.
Dr. Carroll holds a Doctor of Music Education from Liberty University, a Master of Science in Public Administration from Central Washington University, and a Bachelor of Music in Music Education from Central Washington University. She earned membership in several honor societies throughout her collegiate pursuits, including Kappa Delta Pi, Phi Kappa Phi, and Omega Nu Lambda, and served as an officer in several collegiate organization chapters, including the National Association for Music Education (NAfME), the American Choral Directors Association (ACDA), and the National Association for Teachers of Singing (NATS). She has been an active musician throughout her professional life, singing in symphony choirs, chamber ensembles, opera choruses, vocal jazz ensembles, and church music ministry. Here in Knoxville, Dr. Carroll is an active member of the Knoxville Choral Society, singing in both the large choral ensemble and the select chamber chorale.
Dr. Carroll enjoys spending quality time with family and friends, exploring coffee shops, staying active, attending musicals and concerts, singing in choir, serving at church, and listening to podcasts and audiobooks. She also enjoys cheering on the Volunteers!
