Here's the latest on Monty. His first surgery didn't take. There was no real bone growth happening. He had a second surgery and that one was working! Until he bent the stainless steel plate in his leg to a 45 degree angle...

So we're on the 3rd surgery at the moment. Now he's got external fixators sticking out of his leg.

Third times the charm, right?

How it started vs how it's going. He won't get out of the car. Monty had his bone graft surgery today. I'm sure his leg is sore, but he did this pre-surgery too. Suggestions on how to get a stubborn Pyr out of the backseat of a car?

Any tips on faster bone healing? 8 weeks post surgery for a broken femur, Monty's x-rays showed little to no evidence of growth. The vet recommended either a bone graft (or amputation). We're giving him a little more time before deciding on more surgery. What would you do to encourage bone growth? We've got him on vitamins and are keeping him confined. He only goes out on leash walks too.
