Adapted from the 1959 Vincent Price classic, The 🏚House on Haunted Hill tells the twisted tale of millionaire Frederick Lauren, his fourth wife Annabelle, and five, 💰money-hungry guests who will each received fifty thousand dollars if they stay in a supposedly haunted house until 🌅 sunrise.

Filled with double crosses, jilted lovers, a wicked sense of humor, and a restless spirit or two, Haunted Hill proves to be a night you’ll never forget.

😮SUPER DUPER - Throwback Thursday!!😮

Like last century throwback. Can you believe this was 1992, in our first year of producing plays when ToD performed ✝️ "Nunsense."

These actors & directors helped pave the way for what Theatre of Dare 🎭 would become today!! Soooo cool!!

👸Do you know the President of the ToD Board or Directors?

Well, if you don't, you're only one of a few. Lara Parks has been a staple in our Outer Banks arts scene for pushing two decades. From her amazing 🎨visual art at many local galleries to her fantastic stagework and🎭 directorial abilities, Lara encompasses what it means to be an "arts lover."

This will be Lara's first year as the head honcha at ToD and we couldn't be more excited to embrace her with open arms!

✍️Kurt Vonnegut Jr... the man behind "Happy Birthday, Wanda June"

Kurt Vonnegut Jr. was one of the most celebrated American novelists📚 and satirists of the 20th century, famous for blending dark humor, science fiction, and profound humanism. His sharp wit left behind some of literature's most memorable commentary on🧬 life, kindness😇, war🪖, and the absurdity of existence.

"Happy Birthday, Wanda June" was Vonnegut’s debut play that critics say is "zingingly relevant" & "richly and often pertinently funny."

🦌Why "Happy Birthday, Wanda June," Kim?🦌

Our first director of the 2026-2027 season is Kim Plyer. Kim has been working with ToD since 2018 and has been a Board member since 2022. She is a jack of all trades and I'm pretty sure has a cot in our props room due to the amount of time she spends on stage, backstage, directing, or just lending a hand.

​Whether it's a show-stopping musical, a gripping drama, a side-splitting comedy, or a hidden gem you’ve been dying to bring to life—this is your chance to suggest or direct it right here with your local theater family.
