COME FOR THE ART STAY FOR THE MUSIC!
The Kirkwood Arts Commission, in tandem with the Kirkwood Performing Arts Center proudly presents our 2026 Summer Exhibition. Opening Reception will be Wednesday, May 20th, from 4 pm to 7 pm, attendance is free and open to all.
Immediately following the reception is a BENEFIT CONCERT at 7 pm in the Strauss Studio Theatre featuring Dawn Weber Music. Dawn is a world-class, classically trained trumpet player, singer and songwriter who performs across multiple genres including: jazz, rock, R&B, swing and salsa, hip-hop, electronic and funk. CONCERT TICKETS ARE $25 and available at Metrotix, the KPAC box office or at the door.
All ticket proceeds benefit the Kirkwood Arts Commission, a Commission of the City of Kirkwood dedicated to promoting and sponsoring the arts—and encouraging participation in the arts—for the enrichment of the entire Kirkwood community.
ABOUT THE ARTISTS
Tom Blood is a self-taught, modern surrealist, driven to paint ideas. He credits this passion for storytelling to a career in advertising. His simple concept-inspired works, which urge a moment of introspection from the viewer, hang in homes and galleries across 14 countries.

works on view at KPAC come from his series titled Diversions and Abstractions, on Closer Inspection. Appropriately named, the series is an intriguing digression from Krieger’s prolific nature and landscape images. In late 2000, Krieger was awarded first-prize for the winning photo in National Geographic Traveler magazine and has been published in national publications such as Islands Magazine and Gourmet Magazine.
Darwin Scholl (d. 2013)
A carefully curated selection from a collection of more than eight hundred, Scholl’s hand-drawn cartoons offer a rare and personal glimpse into daily U.S. Army life during World War II. All were created and mailed home to his bride while he served as a Morse Code operator in Africa. His illustrations are pulled from ordinary moments transformed into scenes of humor, wit and humanity.
This exhibition will be on view through August 15th. The Galleries at Kirkwood Performing Arts Center are open for public viewing Monday through Friday from 10 am to 2 pm and also by appointment.
