Tap #3: The Battle Begins!

We heard y'all loud and clear — you wanted draft beer, so we jumped the gun and got ourselves a three-tap kegerator! This is just the FIRST of many taps to come as we keep leveling up the Saloon, but for now, here's what's pouring:

Coors Light and Michelob Ultra are locked into taps one and two! That leaves tap #3 wide open — and it's reserved for a local Arizona IPA. Which one?! That's up to YOU.

Here's how we settle it:

🍺 Comment your pick — name the local AZ IPA that deserves the crown!
🍺 Like the picks you're backing — every like is a vote, so rally your people!
🍺 Tag the friend who's about to argue with you over this.

We're keeping the leaderboard running right here in the comments, so come back and check the standings! Whichever local IPA racks up the most votes gets poured first — bragging rights included.

Let the debate begin, Kirkland! Defend your favorite like your table depends on it — because tomorrow night is Kirkland Karaoke, and Kirkland's Got Talent is back for another episode! Bring your best pick AND your best mic drop! 🤠🎤

ON THE NEXT EPISODE OF WHAT'S IN THE BASEMENT: THE PLATE THAT PREDATES "GRAND CANYON STATE"!

Picture this: cobwebs thick as curtains, one flickering bulb, and a stack of crates nobody's touched since disco was cool. We were only down there to grab extra chairs for movie night. Then a flashlight caught a glint of copper under one of the crates, and everything stopped.

We brushed off 80+ years of Kirkland dust and there it was: a license plate unlike ANY we'd ever seen. No county code. No "Grand Canyon State." Just two proud numbers standing guard on either side — 1539 and 1939 — and the words "MARCOS DE NIZA" stamped right across the bottom like it was daring us to ask questions.

So we did. And the answer floored us. 🤯

This isn't just old — it's Arizona's very first slogan plate EVER, a full year before "Grand Canyon State" existed. In 1939, the whole state of Arizona put this exact phrase on every single license plate to mark 400 years since Fray Marcos de Niza, a Franciscan friar, wandered into Arizona in 1539 chasing whispers of golden cities so rich they made Mexico City look like a lemonade stand. He came back with stories so wild they practically dared Coronado to grab an army and go look for himself the following year.

One robe. One friar. One legendary tall tale. And somehow it ended up buried in OUR basement, waiting for us to dig it up 87 years later. (Meanwhile, we're busy clearing out our vault to make way for a speakeasy and wine cellar — who knows what THAT dig turns up next.)

Now we need Kirkland's finest to help us finish the story:
🏆 Comment your verdict: did Fray Marcos actually find gold, or was he just the best storyteller in Arizona history?
📸 Swing by the Saloon, see the actual plate in person, and get your photo with Arizona's original influencer

The past is our charm, the present is a party, and the future is whatever our wildest imaginations bring! 🐎🥃

Kirkland, dust off your dancing boots and top off those trailers, because we’ve got a full‑throttle weekend lined up out here in the desert! 🤠⛺🌵🔥
Tonight (Friday), Johnny Young is in the saloon from 6–9 pm with that killer mix of traditional, outlaw, and newer country that keeps the dance floor busy and the drinks going down easy! 🤠🎵

🇺🇸 Your Ultimate Fourth of July Weekend Starts in Kirkland!

Celebrate America’s 250th anniversary the Kirkland way! Make Kirkland’s Saloon your home base for a full, adventure-packed Fourth of July weekend—dry camp beside our rodeo arena, with the saloon just steps away where modern-day wild west cowboys gather, and spend your days roaming the beauty of Yavapai County. From the quiet charm of Skull Valley to the winding roads through Yarnell, the energy of Prescott and Whiskey Row, and the fun of Prescott Valley, your campsite at Kirkland’s is the launching point for it all!

FRIDAY, JULY 3 – Holly Jo LIVE, 6–9 PM
Roll in Friday, set up camp, and kick off the 250th celebration under big desert skies. Holly Jo’s amazing voice and classic country soundtrack your first night, with cold drinks, good food, and one of the most authentic Wild West saloons in Arizona just a short walk from your rig or tent. There’s nothing more American than camping outdoors next to the arena, gathering with friends, and soaking up that small-town Western hospitality.

Prescott Frontier Days, Inc. - World's Oldest Rodeo– WE’RE A PROUD SPONSOR
Your Kirkland home base puts you close to Prescott Frontier Days, Inc. – the World’s Oldest Rodeo, and we’re proud to stand behind it as a sponsor! Spend your day at the rodeo soaking in bucking chutes, arena dust, and century-old Western tradition, then head back “home” to Kirkland’s to wind down around the saloon with fellow rodeo and ranch folks. It’s the perfect way to experience the heritage that built this county while still camping in the heart of your own Wild West!

SATURDAY, JULY 4 – JOHNNY YOUNG 1–4 PM & 6–9 PM
Spend the Fourth exploring the county by day, then come “home” to Kirkland’s for live music that doesn’t quit. Start your Fourth of July afternoon with Johnny Young’s high-energy country set from 1–4 pm, kick back for food, cold drinks, and saloon stories, and you’ll still have plenty of time to roll into town for Prescott Freedom Festival & Fireworks once the sun goes down. Two big sets at Kirkland’s, one epic day, and a night that ends under the glow of fireworks after a full dose of Wild West.

SUNDAY, JULY 5 – Bud Tyndale & BLOODY MARY BAR, 1–4 PM
Cap off your holiday weekend the Kirkland way. On Sunday, Bud Tyndale keeps the good times rolling from 1–4 pm with live music and easygoing, front-porch vibes while we serve up our famous Bloody Mary bar. It’s the perfect send-off: a relaxed afternoon of music, brunch-style drinks, and one last gathering at the saloon before you pack up camp and head home with a whole weekend of Wild West memories!

HISTORY, SHENANIGANS & SADDLES!!! 🤠🦖💣

Remember when we dug up that “cannonball” out back and the comments went wild—half of you insisting it was an old mill ball, the other half voting for “instant Kirkland legend!” Then a few weeks later we unearthed that dinosaur vertebrae from inside the wall (how weird is that?!?) and everyone swore we’d finally found proof that one of our regulars had been here since the Jurassic!!!

Well…y’all did this... You called us a "museum", so we became one! The famous Kirkland cannonball and our very own dino vertebrae are now displayed museum‑style, under glass, behind the bar—fancy lighting, serious presentation, completely unserious crowd... 🤠

And because the relics keep coming, we had to give those old PRINCE ALBERT CANS a spot in the “exhibit” too! So yes, for everyone who grew up prank‑calling stores—“Do you have Prince Albert in a can?”—you can now stroll into Kirkland’s, point at the display, and proudly say, “Why don’t you let him out?!” No phone required, just a bar tab.

Now for this weekend’s LIVE EXHIBITS—the part of the "museum" that shakes the walls:

TONIGHT (FRIDAY): TRULY RECKLESS - 5–8 PM Country rock done right, turned up loud, and guaranteed to start this weekend with a bang!

SATURDAY: TEX‑AZ TROUBADOURS - 6–9 PM Playing while the Season Opener roping is rocking the arena—dance, cheer, or sing between runs, your choice!

SUNDAY: SKY DADDY - 5–8 PM An incredible mix of traditional, outlaw, and newer country to wrap up the weekend with one big, boot‑stomping, sing‑at‑the‑top‑of‑your‑lungs throwdown!

All weekend long the SEASON OPENER ROPING, our first two‑day saddle series are rolling in the arena—loops flying, dust hanging in the sunset, saddles and bragging rights on the line—while inside the “museum,” the bands keep the floors bouncing!!!

Come for the cannonball, high‑five the dinosaur, salute Prince Albert in his can, rope all day, dance all night, and help prove once again: the past is our charm, the present is a PARTY, and the future is whatever kind of wild we dream up together!!!

🎉✨ TUESDAYS JUST RODE INTO TOWN ✨🎉

Kirkland… the doors are OPEN right now for our brand‑new TUESDAY NIGHT at the saloon! 🤠

We’re turning Tuesdays into a weekly party night, and this time we’re letting the Kirkland crew build it from the ground up. We’re talking:

🎵 Singo-style music bingo

❓ Rowdy ranch & small‑town trivia

🎯 Co****le, pool, or cards leagues

Nothing’s locked in yet — we’re in the “wild ideas welcome” stage. This is your chance to help shape our Tuesday night tradition.

Drop a comment and tell us:

Which one should be our first big Tuesday feature?

Got another crazy‑fun idea we haven’t mentioned yet? Theme nights, contests, league concepts… let ’er rip!

We’re open NOW, the drinks are cold, and the stories are flowing. Swing by, grab your favorite spot, and help us dream up what Tuesday nights at Kirkland’s Saloon should look like.

The past is our charm. The present is a party. And Tuesdays? That’s whatever this community decides to create together. 🤎
