The universe has thrown us test after test this set up week.
We thought for once we'd be here so early (Sunday a week before opening) and have free time, rest time, a slow easy set up. Well, as soon as we got our camp set up and laundry done we were in the parking lot at the laundry mat and our van wouldn't turn on. So we got it towed to the mechanic, lyft back home because it was after their open hours, slept on floor of tent (because our van is our bed/ main house). Lyft back next day and luckily it was just two dead batteries, but it still ended up costing just over $1,000. (This isn't a post asking for help, but if you want to throw a few bucks our way you can find our virtual payments here: linktr.ee/nemetoncommunity ).
Morgan is nursing an injury, so that's never fun.
Our stage wasn't quite finished the day we arrived so we put all our stage stuff in their green room, which is open only certain hours... so the day we finally started setting up for the show Bella got locked in the green room. Which is actually just hilarious, and she got let out within minutes. But then we moved all our stuff to stage which was finished then.
When we left Pennsylvania ren faire everything was wet. We did the best we could to dry everything and pack in a good way, but we still unpacked our stuff to find some mold... and our entire electronics box had standing water in the bottom of it... tbd at how much this may cost us as we have those electronics in a bag with damprid currently. So what should have been an early and easy stage set up and sound check turned into 3 days of dealing with the damage and mold. We will open the damprid bag of electronics and see what works Saturday (tomorrow) morning around 8am and do sound check before the fair day starts.
Usually we'd be fine to say screw it we're going fully acoustic this weekend, but with minor injuries we need the tech because it helps make the show easier on our bodies. Everything is a creative challenge that pushes us in new directions to try new things and ultimately grow. So a couple new songs we've never performed coming this weekend, including Bella's first time performing with our octave up medieval small pipes, we added one more hurdy gurdy song, and pulling some things from the vault we haven't done in a while.
I probably forgot some of the crazy stuff that's happened to us this week, but it has been a doozy for sure. Regardless of all that, everyone at The Connecticut Renaissance Faire has been incredible so far, this place seems really professional and awesome so far, our camp spot is awesome, and we are always excited for the weekend when we don't have to deal with these life type of things and can do what we do best and meet and party with all of you. ♥️
So find us on the brand new Sovereign Stage at 11:30, 12:45, 2:30, and 4:15 and we'll all dance and sing and drum our cares away together!!! See you soon, friends!!! ✨️
