🎼 MEET THE TEACHERS 🎭
Get to know more about teacher, Thomas Netter below!
_______________
When did you start getting into theatre?
I don’t remember a time when I WASN’T into theater! When I was 4 I started tap class, at 5 I played Michael in “Peter Pan” at Coleman High School, and at 6 I started Broadway Bound workshops with our very own Lisë Hopson. I haven’t stopped performing since!
How many shows have you been in?
I stopped counting at 40 shows in 2015… so carry the 1, and — I’m an actor, I was never good at math!
What is your favorite role you’ve ever played
Good god- that’s like picking your favorite child! Some of my favorites have been Cornelius Hackl in “Hello, Dolly!,” Bert in “Mary Poppins,” and the deliciously evil Miss Trunchbull in “Matilda!”
What is a role you’ve always wanted to play?
Finch in “How To Succeed in Business…” and Peter Panning in the yet to be written musical of the movie “Hook.”
What is your favorite improv game?
“Party Quirks” is always a hoot whether you are playing the host or one of the “quirky” guests!
What was the first musical you ever saw?
The first musical I really remember seeing was an incredible touring production of “Singin’ In The Rain” at UPAC!
What was the first musical you saw on Broadway?
“Mary Poppins”
What was your favorite musical growing up?
I mean who didn’t love “Annie?” I loved JRB’s “13, The Musical,” but most of all I LOVED geeking out over the classics like “Hello, Dolly!,” “Funny Girl,” “Kiss Me, Kate,” “Gypsy,” and so many more…
What is your all time favorite show?
Top three, in no order: “Into The Woods,” “Hello, Dolly!,” and “Falsettos”
Why is theatre beneficial to learn about?
Anne Bogart describes theatre as a “gym for the soul.” Whether in the audience or onstage, it has the power to “exercise the imagination, empathy, creative thinking, patience and tolerance.” I think that says it all, not to mention it’s pretty great fun too!
What is your favorite thing about Broadway Bound Musical Theatre Workshop?
I love every moment of each week: the nervous introductions on the first day, the hilarious improv games, the cramming of lines, lyrics, and choreography, the break throughs and sometimes even the breakdowns, and of course the great friendships that are made!
