After the pandemic, like many businesses, we had to shift from a physical location to an online platform. We struggled.

But after taking the Business Ready assessment at Systro Solutions and talking to Dr. Russ Barnes, PhD, USAF Col. (Ret), we started our journey on the path to profitability. He understands that small businesses and entrepreneurs need strategies that get them from where they are to where they want to be.

Thanks for putting us on the path to become Purposefully Profitable.

We hope you enjoyed the tour of Summer Hill and the first nine sites on the Bartow Cartersville African American Heritage Trail. We look forward to showing you the rest of the sites on the Trail!

We’ve earned our first sponsor! Dr. Russ Barnes PhD, USAF Col. (Ret.), CEO of Systro Solutions, believes in our work and supports our mission to preserve the heritage and history of rural African Americans in the Appalachian South.

His Trailmaster sponsorship helps fund the Y’all Remember oral history interview series. This interview series captures remembrances of the last living educators, administrators, and staff of the Summer Hill Schools and the oldest living graduating class of Summer Hill High School, the class of 1953, highlighting the importance of the Summer Hill School and community. Future interviews will focus on other historical sites in the Bartow-Cartersville area.

More broadly, this level of sponsorship helps fund the strategic vision, holistic maintenance, and sustainability of the sites on the Bartow Cartersville African American Heritage Trail by providing support for researching, archiving, and interpreting interviews and artifacts for the public audience.

Thank you so much for you support, Dr. Russ!

"After the Civil War, peach orchards and cotton crops boomed. The red clay soil that covered the mountains in Bartow County produced the finest Elberta peaches in the world. All the high mountains and hills outside the district were covered with fine peach orchards. They were planted on top of the high mountains so the late spring frost would not destroy the peach blossoms. There were also peach trees in the back yards of almost every family in the Adairsville area. There was a peach packing shed located near the railroad on Railroad Street as well as a company that made the crates in which the peaches were shipped." (History of Downtown Adairsville-https://www.adairsvillega.net/community/downtown_adairsville/history.php)

We had a great time working with baseball expert, Ted Knorr, Kingston Woman History Club, Inc., and Queens Chapel Methodist Church to spread the word about Rap Dixon. If you don't know, Herbert "Rap" Dixon was a phenomenal baseball player and a native of Kingston, Ga. We're working together to get Rap inducted into Major League Baseball's Hall Of Fame.

Full video will be posted soon. So, check back to hear Ted's compelling argument for inducting Kingston's own, Rap Dixon, into the MLB HOF.

Etowah Bush School provides historical consulting services. As consultants, we work to preserve and promote the rich history and cultural heritage of African Americans. Our services involve conducting research, providing expert analysis, offering advice and recommendations, and developing strategies for the preservation and promotion of African American history.

One of the key ways we serve our community is by working with local organizations and institutions to support their efforts in preserving African American history. This often involves collaborating with museums, historical societies, and other organizations to develop exhibits, design educational programs, and create interpretive materials.

As historical consultants, our services are in high demand, and we rely on a variety of funding sources to support our work. While we do receive some government funding and grants, we also rely on donations and corporate sponsorship to help cover the costs of our work.

If you're interested in supporting our work, we welcome your financial contributions or in-kind donations in the form of goods and services. We also invite you to learn more about the important work we do, and to join us in our efforts to preserve and promote the rich history of African Americans in our community and beyond.

Thank you for your support!
