Join us for the kick off of our 2nd Annual Eco Arts Week with an exciting keynote presentation, ā€œDissolving into the Hydrocommons: Ecological Art Practice as a Collaborative Movementā€ by artist sTo Len, 6:30pm- 8:30pm, April15 at the Ulster County Restorative Justice and Community Empowerment Center at 733 Broadway, seats are limited so register while there are still spots!

sTo Len will present an artist talk on his interdisciplinary practice that embodies an "in the fieldā€ ethos that deconstructs the job of an artist with a collaborative, holistic, and community-minded approach that blends civic stewardship with playful and poetic investigations.

The City of Kingston’s ARPA Arts & Culture Internship Grant Program has been extended to April 28, 2023. The program will support both nonprofit organizations and for-profit businesses that contribute to the creative economy that experienced losses due to the pandemic.

Per the City of Kingston’s Economic Recovery Plan, the Arts & Culture Internship Grant Program will use ARPA funding to aid the creative economy by encouraging young people to develop an interest in, and the skills needed, to participate in the arts industry.

Creative industries can include advertising, architecture, arts and crafts, fine arts, design, fashion, film/video, photography, music, performing arts, publishing, computer games, TV/radio, and more. The creative economy, as defined by this program, can include trade, labor, and production aspects of the arts.

The City of Kingston's ninth annual Earth Fair will be held on Saturday, May 13, 2023, from 10:00am to 5:00pm at T.R Gallo Park on the Kingston Waterfront.

This free, family event will feature performances by the Center for Creative Education's Energy Dance Company, Mid-Hudson Juggling Club, Percussion Orchestra of Kingston and Uptown Lowdown.

Live music performances will include TaĆ­na Asili, David & Jacob Bernz, Betty & the Baby Boomers, Tom Chapin, Reggie Harris, Lara Hope & the Arktones, The Mammals, Jay Ungar & Molly Mason, Maria y Matteo, Piedmont Bluz, The Slambovian Circus of Dreams and The Ulsterados.

The 2023 Earth Fair will also feature kid’s activities and games, face painting, a solar-powered merry-go-round, and free Solaris boat rides and Clearwater tours. Food vendors will include Reggae Boy CafĆ©, Gab’s Veg Table, and Urugula, as well as root beer floats from Keegan Ales.

At the Earth Day Exchange, attendees can swap used clothes, toys, books, or household goods. The City will be collecting electronic waste such as computers and televisions and offering refrigerants collection - free disposal of old refrigerators, freezers, dehumidifiers, or air conditioners.

The Kingston Earth Fair is free and open to all. The Kingston Earth Fair is made possible by generous sponsors. The City of Kingston will host a youth art exhibition, Art Out Loud, in the City Hall gallery space from April 29 to September 21, 2023.

The Art Out Loud exhibition spotlights the artistry of Kingston’s young creatives with a visual arts exhibition by the D.R.A.W., the Kingston High School Art Club, and My Kingston Kids’ Photography NOW! programs.

An opening reception for the Art Out Loud youth art exhibition will be held on Saturday, April 29, 2023, from 2:00pm to 5:00pm at City Hall, and will include performances by the Boys and Girls Club youth choir, Club Harmony; the Center for Creative Education’s Energy Dance Troupe, and spoken word poetry by Harambee Kingston Youth Program members.

The event is free and open to the public, with refreshments and opportunities to register for the participating youth organizations’ summer programs.

The Art Out Loud visual arts exhibition will be on view until September 21, during City Hall business hours: Monday to Friday from 8:30am to 4:30pm, or by appointment.
