This morning, the Ryan Center was honored to host the 2026 Special Olympics Rhode Island Summer Games Opening Ceremonies! ❤️💛💙

We proudly welcomed 1,200 athletes, representing 39 teams from across Rhode Island, along with 400 dedicated coaches and trainers whose commitment and support make these incredible achievements possible year-round.

To every athlete, coach, volunteer, family member, and supporter: congratulations on all of your hard work, determination, and perseverance. Your dedication inspires our entire community.

We wish all of the competitors the very best of luck this weekend as they showcase their talents, sportsmanship, and passion. We can’t wait to see all that you accomplish!

Over 3 incredible days, we proudly welcomed nearly 26,000 guests as we celebrated URI’s 2026 Spring Commencement ceremonies. From 8 colleges to more than 4,000 graduates walking across our stage, this weekend was filled with unforgettable moments, proud families, and the excitement of new beginnings.
