Adult Beginner Ballet

Hey dancers...guess who is teaching this Ballet Variations workshop next Saturday? 😉

We'll be learning the Princess Florine solo (aka Bluebird) from Sleeping Beauty. I first learned and performed that piece in ballet camp, oh so many years ago!

All the variations will be modified to suit adult dancers at a beginner or intermediate level, so we don't kill ourselves. 😂

💕Did you dance as a young girl and have missed it? Did you never get a chance to try ballet but always wanted to? If you answered yes to either question, then this class is for you!

This is an ALL Levels class that welcomes absolute beginners! The class is set to classical music, will move you through barre work from pliés to stretching, then into the center to build your foundation for turns, jumps, leaps, and combinations. You'll build strength, tone, and flexibility as you discover the joy and beauty of ballet.

This is an open level class that will provide modifications to meet all adult dancers where they are.

🩰No prior dance experience is required. All are welcome!

💗Jennifer Lavenhar is excited to teach this class! She believes that anyone can give themselves the gift of ballet, and she delights in the joyful smiles (and happy tears!) of her students as they discover that it is truly never too late to dance.

💕Please note that the 6 week sessions cannot be paid for using current class packages.

💕No refunds will be provided for missed classes.

Adult Ballet is back in RHINEBECK! Local friends - come dance with us, Thursdays from 6-7pm, at the beautiful Breathe Studio.

This class is open to all levels of adult dancers. We'll do a classic ballet barre, then move to the center to work on the building blocks of ballet performance: turns, petit allegro (little jumps), leaps, and beautiful musical combinations. The point of this class is to have fun, strengthen core and lengthen muscles, build technique, increase your flexibility, balance and range of motion, tune in to your body (especially places where you hold physical and emotional tension), and move beautifully through space.

Most people leave class about 2 inches taller than when they came in. :-)

NOTE: this isn't an absolute beginner class. It will be helpful for you to have some (any) experience with ballet, even if it was a long time ago. If you are interested in an Absolute Beginner class, leave a comment or DM me.

This is why we are re-entering slowly with Adult Ballet on Wednesday evenings, and Ballet Cross-Train on Friday mornings!

In the last few months, Diamond's read a lot about how professionals and pre-professional students are getting back into shape, but she feels adult recreational dancers don't have the same guidance on what to do—and what not to do—before stepping onto that marley floor in what seems like forever...
