We have heard a lot of chatter about the changes regarding our beloved Trunk or Treat event so we just wanted to update the community with some FAQs.

Please feel free to leave any questions in the comments so we can be as transparent as possible!

We understand change can be difficult but we need to make sure our events remain safe and run smooth for volunteers, hosts and community members!

🎃🚗 TRUNK REGISTRATION IS NOW OPEN! 🚗🎃

Our annual Kingston Recreation Trunk-or-Treat is back — and this year we’re going bigger than ever at our NEW location, The Plains! 👻🍬

📅 Monday, October 19th
⏰ 5:00–8:00 PM
📍 The Plains – Center of Kingston

We’re looking for families, businesses, organizations, teams and community members to decorate a trunk and help us create an amazing night for the kids! 🧡

✨ $5 per trunk
🎁 Every registered trunk is entered into a raffle for a local business gift card!
📣 Businesses are welcome (and encouraged!) to hand out promotional materials along with their goodies!

We had an incredible turnout last year and are expecting 1,000+ people this year, so the more trunks, the better! Candy is always welcome, but small toys, pencils, stickers, fidgets and other fun giveaways are great options too!

⚠️ Space is limited! Registration will close October 12th OR when all trunk spaces are filled.

We're excited to begin planning our 2026–2027 School Year Recreation Program Schedule and are looking for instructors, educators, hobbyists, and community members who would like to offer classes, workshops, clubs, and special programs from September through May.

Whether you're an experienced instructor or simply have a skill, hobby, or passion you'd love to share, we'd love to hear your ideas!
We're looking for programs for all ages, including (but certainly not limited to):

🧘 Fitness & Wellness
🎨 Arts & Crafts
💃 Dance
👩‍🍳 Cooking Demonstrations & Food Workshops*
🌱 Gardening
📚 Educational & STEM Programs
🎵 Music
♟️ Clubs & Special Interest Groups
👧 Youth Enrichment
👨‍👩‍👧 Family Programs
✨ And so much more!

Programs can be offered in a variety of formats:
✔️ One-time workshops or pop-up events
✔️ 2–8 week series
✔️ Seasonal sessions (Fall, Winter, or Spring)
✔️ Ongoing programs throughout the school year

Our instructors run their own classes while Kingston Recreation provides the space, can help manage registration, and collects a facility fee that helps support our recreation programs and facilities.

📍 Our facility offers open indoor space, tables, chairs, a sink, and refrigerators. Please note that we do not have a fully functional kitchen, so food-related classes should be planned accordingly.

⚽🎉 TinyTykes is BACK this Fall with Kingston Recreation & Challenger Sports! 🎉⚽

We’re excited to once again partner with Challenger Sports to bring TinyTykes Soccer back to Kingston this Fall 2026!

Designed for our youngest soccer stars, TinyTykes uses fun, imaginative adventures to teach the fundamentals of soccer. One week your child might be racing race cars, the next they could be exploring outer space or stomping around with dinosaurs—all while building confidence, coordination, and soccer skills! 🌎🚀🦖⚽

To make it easier for families, we’re offering two session options:
📅 Wednesdays: September 9 – October 14
📅 Saturdays: September 12 – October 17

👕 Every participant receives a TinyTykes uniform package with registration!

🍁Senior Fall Foliage Bus Trip🍁

Embark on a journey through the breathtaking Lakes Region of New Hampshire with the Winnipesaukee Scenic Railroad. Experience a diverse array of scenic train rides that showcase the stunning landscapes surrounding Lake Winnipesaukee. We will be riding on the first class train out of Meredith with panoramic views, temperature controlled car, comfortable sofa style seating and we will have access to a bathroom.

Trip Date: Thursday, Sept 24, 2026

Pricing:

Kingston Residents: $65

Non-Residents: $75

Schedule of the day:

- Check in: 8:10-8:25am at The Rec Center (24 Main St)

- Bus Departure: 8:30 AM promptly- we will not be able to wait for late arrivals.

- Travel to Meredith

- Check in at Train Station

- Train Departs: 10:30 AM departure (2 hour ride)

- Load Bus: 12:30 PM
- Depart Meredith: 12:45 PM
- Return to Kingston: approximately 2:30 PM

You are welcome to bring snacks for the bus ride. Lunch will be provided on the train.

💙 A little appreciation post for our AMAZING Kingston Rec counselors! 💙

As we head into our final week of summer camp, I just really wanted to take a minute to shout out this crew. ❤️

This summer has been a LOT — the heat, the full camp days, all the new things we’ve taken on, and everything that comes along with having 80+ kids together all summer 😂. But through it all, you guys have continued to show up, roll with the punches, and make camp FUN for our kids.

You’ve brought so many new ideas to camp this year, including our first ever Color Wars, and I’ve loved seeing you guys put your own spin on things and make camp your own. You’ve dealt with so many new situations this summer and have continued to keep going, even on the days that are long, hot, or just plain exhausting.

I hope you’ve all enjoyed some of the goodies we’ve been bringing in to keep you fueled up for this last week! It’s a small way of saying THANK YOU for everything you do. 🥰

I really hope you all know how much you are appreciated — by Kingston Rec, by me, and by our community. Even when things get a little hard or overwhelming, please know that what you do matters. You are a HUGE part of why our summer camp is able to happen, and honestly, Kingston Rec Summer Camp would not run without you guys.

Thank you for showing up, putting in the work, being patient, being creative, and most importantly, for giving our campers such a fun summer. ❤️

Don’t forget to sign up for our upcoming preseason soccer camp hosted by Challenger Sports!!! ⚽️

PRE SEASON CAMP!

Get ready for the Fall soccer season with our exciting Pre-Season Soccer Camp! Designed for players of all abilities ages 6–14, this high-energy evening camp will help players build confidence, sharpen their technical skills, and prepare for a successful season in a fun and positive environment.

Running 4:30 PM – 7:30 PM, each day is carefully structured to combine quality coaching with plenty of opportunities to play.

4:30 PM – 6:30 PM | Technical Training
Players will take part in engaging warm-ups followed by focused technical training led by our enthusiastic Challenger Sports coaches. A new soccer skill will be introduced each day, including dribbling, passing, shooting, ball control, first touch, attacking moves, defending, and finishing. Sessions are designed to challenge every player while creating an enjoyable learning environment that builds confidence and encourages creativity.

6:30 PM – 7:30 PM | Small-Sided Games & Scrimmages
The final hour is all about putting new skills into action! Players will compete in fun, age-appropriate small-sided games and scrimmages where they can apply what they've learned in realistic match situations. These games promote teamwork, decision-making, game awareness, and, most importantly, a love for the game.

Whether your child is new to soccer or preparing for another competitive season, our Pre-Season Soccer Camp is the perfect way to develop technical ability, improve match readiness, and head into the Fall season feeling confident and excited.

Daily technical focus with a different skill each session
High-energy, positive coaching from Challenger Sports staff
Small-sided games and scrimmages for the final hour
