MEET THE CAST OF 1776 πŸ“œπŸͺΆ

Andrew Moore (Roger Sherman) is excited to make his debut at the Joy Theater! He is no stranger to the stage, as he has a BFA in Musical Theatre from Catawba College, and has been performing in and occasionally supporting shows for most of his life. You may recognize him from the recent production of Puffs at Gardner Webb, from Titanic: The Musical at FUMC Theater, or maybe even from Peter and the Starcatcher at Matthews Playhouse! Either way, he hopes you enjoy the show, and that you have a good day!

How it feels knowing 1776 opens in TWO DAYS 😏

It's the summer of 1776, and the nation is ready to declare independence...if only our founding fathers can agree to do it!

In celebration of the 250th Anniversary of the signing of the Declaration of Independence, Kings Mountain Little Theatre proudly presents 1776: America's Prize Winning Musical.

1776 follows John Adams of Massachusetts, Benjamin Franklin of Pennsylvania, and Thomas Jefferson of Virginia as they attempt to convince the members of the Second Continental Congress to vote for independence from the shackles of the British monarchy by signing the Declaration of Independence.

Directed by Ashley DeMar
Music and Lyrics by Sherman Edwards
Book by Peter Stone
Based on a concept by Sherman Edwards
Original Production Directed by Peter Hunt

MEET THE CAST OF 1776 πŸ“œπŸͺΆ

Dr. Sean Hickman (John Dickinson) was inspired by the youth of his church to step into the spotlight and try something new. He is humbled and honored to make his theater debut at The Joy in 1776. A native of Michigan, he calls Kings Mountain home and is grateful to be part of this amazing community.

In his free time, he enjoys running, you will see him on Battleground Avenue early in the morning (honk and wave if you see him), spending time with his wife Jennifer and fur kids Reggie and Nala, reading, and serving in his church, The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints.

He hopes you enjoy the show as much as he enjoyed preparing for it. He is grateful to director Ashley DeMar, music director Christina Littlejohn, the cast, crew, friends, family, and most importantly his loving wife, for their support.

Jeremy Homesley is honored to be portraying Thomas Jefferson in this historic semiquincentennial year! In addition to his work with 1776, Jeremy serves as Artistic Director of Liberty Mountain: The Revolutionary Drama and originated the role of Major Patrick Ferguson in the 2014 world premiere. A North Carolina native, Jeremy's regional credits also include the 71st & 72nd seasons of Horn in the West (Dr. Geoffrey Stuart), The Crucible (John Proctor), title roles in both Mark Twain's The Diaries of Adam & Eve and Robin Hood, as well as the Liberty Mountain Second Stage production of 1776 (Thomas Jefferson). His original outdoor drama King of Kings: Victory Over the Mountain premiered in 2024 – a production which he wrote, directed and originated the role of Patrick Ferguson. He also had the privilege to serve as Artistic Director of the 72nd season of Horn in the West, and lead several other projects through his company Project Local, an educational non-profit. Learn more at www.projectlocalinc.com.

Here, together with family, he cares for a 150-acre tree farm, covered with a herd of dairy goats, a coop full of chickens and an impossible number of gardens, all of which provide goods for the Project Local farm stand at the Foothills Farmers Market. Jeremy holds a Master of Arts in Writing from Lenoir-Rhyne University in Asheville, a Master of Arts in Teaching from UNC Charlotte, and currently works as an adjunct professor for Gaston College. Jeremy’s writing has appeared in the Adirondack Center for Writing’s PoemVillage Installations 2022-2024, The Kings Mountain Herald, GreenPrints Magazine, Ghost City Review, the first volume of A Common Well Journal, The Bluebird Word, Isotrope Literary Journal and many more.
