Lyn Graham Fine Art Exploring creativity in every face I encounter as a Portrait Painter.

Portrait painting captures a mood, an emotion, and the magic of every face in a realistic style.

I was able to do a switch today on all the shadows. Temperature always clues one to the shifting of planes. To finish this one, the side edges need to be painted for the smudge or two left behind on the hunt. Calling this one done: Tomorrow. Let’s hope the sitter can see the resemblance and that little sweet smile.

Home from the annual Portrait Society of America’s conference held in beautiful Atlanta this year. Four days of art workshops and presentations from elite artists from across this world. I was fortunate to be inspired by my friends and colleagues who gathered together to celebrate our passion for the arts. Ali Cavanaugh demonstrated an amazing workshop in watercolor; sharing the process of creating luminosity in the face through water, pigment and control of the brush. Other techniques were shared in demonstrations of my first passion of oil painting. Inspired by all the generous work of all participants. Congratulations to Rose Frantzen for winning the Grand Draper prize of 2026 and the People’s Choice. Stunning work and amazing to see in person.

That time of year to draw more. Dan Thompson breakout was so helpful. Looking forward to seeing what else is in store.

Still trying out those variables of white. Currently my doggie slowed down to give me an adorable look. While one could say Fargo was winking; it really is time for a hair cut. WIP ?

The moments when you think you are finished and set aside a painting. I have this beautiful lady off to the side while I continue with other portraits. I wonder if I'm finished with her yet. I had so much enjoyment bringing this portrait to life. Now, I wait to consider: is she finished yet? There's so much more I can put into the rich, colorful fabric. The jewels and sequins were plentiful, but making the fabric more simple pushes all the attention to her beautiful face. Tell me what you think.

With not a minute to spare, these two are off to their new homes. Headed to a spot under the Christmas tree. I’m honored to have made the three portraits of Tim D’s family. He is very pleased with the outcome. Always checking in to make sure his vision was manifesting on canvas linen. His board ended up at the framers for that special selection.

I had the honor of attending two weddings in the park this past week. At the wedding of my new niece-daughter’s brother, Ronit and Bini, they had two painters there marking the occasion. I feel so honored to be become a witness to both weddings. More later!
