Quick question: do any of know of any business or person who may be interested in underwriting or being a sponsor of Stagelands' production of "Steel Magnolias"? I have money I'm putting down on the production, but it would be nice to have a little help with the few hundred dollars it's going to take to pay for royalties and non-donated items. We can give such "a sponsor" a big ad in our program and thank them out loud at the performances. It can't be something to be turned into the IRS (we're, as of yet, not an official 501-3-C) but it can be an "advertising" choice. If you have an idea, let me know. I'm putting down a few hundred myself, but it would be nice to have a little help. Thanks!!!!

People in Emory and the surrounding areas, PLEASE share the following wherever you can and wherever you think it's appropriate:

Our up-and-upcoming local community theatre group, Stagelands, will (hopefully) be producing a play within two or three months. Our goal is to put on the famous play about six women in a Louisiana beauty shop. (You know which one.) We can't post the title yet because we're waiting for rights to be granted--yet we can't obtain the rights until we know for certain that we'll have enough actors. We will hold auditions TOMORROW NIGHT, TUESDAY, JULY 18th at 7 p.m. at the ROSE COMMUNITY CENTER in EMORY, TEXAS. If you are a woman wanting to act, please consider auditioning. "Unofficial" auditions/reading for "Play to be Named" (about women in a Louisiana beauty shop: hint, hint) will be THIS coming Tuesday night, July 18th at 7 p.m. at the Rose Community Center, 239 Quitman St., Emory, Texas. I cannot publish the name of the script until I have obtained the rights, and I cannot obtain the rights until I know if there will be enough people to pull it off. Needed: six "role-appropriate" women and a handful of others (male or female) for crew. The performance venue is secure. The performance dates will be set after I confer with the chosen cast and crew. If you have any further questions, please feel free to contact me.

I know it's short notice, but if I could find a place Thursday evening, would anyone be able to meet and read some lines to audition for STEEL MAGNOLIAS? If not enough people can be there on such short notice, we can wait a few more days.

Hello, followers of Stagelands. I'm hoping to produce a community play soon, one that will require six dedicated actresses. Do you think I can find six local ladies who'd like to act? If you have any ideas, let me know.

Hello, STAGELANDS fans and/or potential actors/techs. As you know, because of the size of the cast for the show we were starting last summer, we could not (as much as we tried) find enough male actors to be able to go forward. However, we are going forward with a slight alteration in direction.
Many, and I mean dozens, of people have asked me recently when we are going to pursue another show. These inquiries have come not only from potential actors but also from community people eager to see what we can do again.
SO, here goes. We have the venue. I'd like to attempt one of two shows to perform later this summer or early this fall. The choice will depend upon the response from actors and techs. I'd like to direct either THE IMPORTANCE OF BEING EARNEST (if we can get enough makes) or STEEL MAGNOLIAS.
If you are local and interested in being involved, let me know ASAP.

Thanks to ALL of you who came to our auditions Tuesday night! We had a building FULL of people! I was shocked.
I have the casting ALMOST completed, BUT I still would like to have just two or three more females and just two or three more males audition. If you know of someone, let me know. This show is going to take a lot of hands on deck. I want to announce the casting soon!
