Maui Improv is a 501(c) non-profit built to create opportunities to Improvise on Maui. We offer drop-in workshops, special guest workshops, classes, performance opportunities and more. The work we offer is based mostly in long form improvisation. We bring all of our experiences and ideas with us on stage, and are all fully equipped to create compelling improvised scene work. Instead of focusing on
rules or a comedy formula, we aim to surrender to simple moment to moment reaction. We take the leap of faith that by just reacting honestly to our partner and to the scene unfolding, we will create unique, textured work that can impact audiences and especially and most importantly impact ourselves. Our workshops are designed for the actor, improviser, but equally for anyone else that is interested in exploring the depths of improvisation. Maui Improv was the brainchild of of former Maui resident Mike Burton back in 2013. Mark Beltzman helped him with workshops and appearances over the years before establishing his own offerings. To keep the spirit and joy of Maui Improv moving forward, the baton has been taken up by Forest, Helen and Betsy. Please come out and improvise with us soon!
