In Hawai‘i, giving a lei is an exchange of aloha. It's a physical gesture of welcome, respect, or love, made by hand from flowers, leaves, shells, or nuts depending on the island and occasion.

To receive one is to be told, without words, that you belong here for the moment you're wearing it.

For a limited time, experience Te Au Moana for $225/pp (regularly $286) — our Makahiki Fall Special.

Unlike a single feast day, Makahiki stretched across four lunar months: roughly October through February. Fishermen let the reefs recover. Farmers stepped back from the fields. Families played games instead of working. The Hawaiian value at the center of it all was pono: staying in balance with the land, the sea, and each other.

Same oceanfront lūʻau, same unforgettable night — just a better time to book it. Link in bio, availability is limited!

Across Oceania, Polynesian ancestors crossed vast stretches of ocean with extraordinary knowledge of voyaging, fishing, gathering, and the natural world around them.

Our name, Te Au Moana, which translates to “the ocean tide,” honors that enduring relationship with the sea and the role it continues to play in connecting life throughout the Pacific.

A staple with deep roots in Hawaiian foodways.

Poi is made from cooked kalo that’s pounded and mixed with water until smooth. Fresh poi has a mild flavor, but as it naturally ferments, it develops the tangy taste many know and love.

One to check off your Maui vacation must-try list. Taste it for yourself at Te Au Moana.
