🌿 Nature School: School House Reveal 🌿
This space is designed to meet the needs of kids who will spend 90% of their day outdoors, but provides protection from the elements when needed. Completely solar powered, it has AC, heat, lights, and a refrigerator.
It has interest areas including open ended building, dramatic play, art, writing, library, puzzles and games, and discovery.
It has cubbies for all of the outdoor gear we'll be needing including rain suits, boots, and play overalls.
It has a weather station so we can keep a close eye on the weather and make adjustments as needed.
The outside has play areas including a glue table (sticky, squeezy white glue!) with loose parts, a dress up stage with thrifted clothing, a mud kitchen, sand pit with digging and pouring tools (and trucks to push around!), an art station, our Bijou climbers, a shaded rest area for eating and relaxing, and a circle area for stories and games. The mud and rock piles are outside the fenced space and will be a part of our daily play, along with the large open space for cooperative gross motor games.
When we are not utilizing this learning space, we will be taking nature walks around our property (many, many opportunities for wildlife viewing, including bird houses and feeders and the many garden spiders, butterflies, and dragonflies that live here) and visiting the goats, horses, chickens, and kitties.
I will be sharing images of the joyful learning we encounter beginning next week! I hope you'll follow along and become inspired 🌿
