🪶The Lakota word for a male elk is heȟáka, and the word for a female elk is uŋpȟáŋ.
A Lakota elk dreamer named Oku'te explained that since two elk teeth remain long after the rest of the body crumbles, the ivory became an enduring emblem of a long life and lasting legacy.
Giving an elk ivory to a woman represented a hunter's high devotion, respect, and strength. Brothers traditionally saved and gifted elk ivories from their hunts to their sisters, while a husband would gift them to his wife.
Because each elk carries only two ivories, collecting enough teeth to decorate a traditional hide dress required numerous successful hunts or valuable trading (historically, around 100 teeth could buy a good horse). Wearing an elk tooth dress publicly honored a hunter's skill and a family's standing in the community.

In the Lakota language and tradition, the wolf is called Šuŋgmánitu Tȟáŋka, which translates literally to "dog of the wilderness" or poetically as the "powerful spirit that runs across the land"

🐻 Bear teaches us that true strength isn’t always about fighting. Sometimes, it’s about finding our balance, restoring our harmony, and trusting the healing within. 🤎✨

I had the honor of creating this custom dreamcatcher using horseshoes that once belonged to someone’s beloved horse. 🐴❤️

There’s something so special about giving an old keepsake new life. These horseshoes carry memories, stories, and a connection that can’t be replaced.

Now, instead of sitting tucked away, they’ve become part of something beautiful—a reminder of a special horse and the memories that will always remain. 🪶✨

That’s the sentimental value of handmade art. It’s not just what you see… it’s the story behind it. 🤎

Sometimes life gets loud, and we forget the strength that has always been within us.

Remember who you are. Remember your roots. Remember the stories, sacrifices, love, and strength that came before you.

Your ancestors are part of your journey—not just behind you, but walking with you in the lessons they left, the values they carried, and the strength they passed down.

Stand tall. Walk proudly. Know where you come from, and let it remind you of where you’re meant to go. ❤️

You are not starting from nothing. You are carrying generations of strength with you. ✨

✨ Never underestimate the power of a dream.

Every dream starts as a thought, a feeling, a little spark inside you. Believe in it. Nurture it. Take the first step—even when you can’t see the whole path.

Your dream has the power to become your reality. 🪶✨

🦋🪶🌞 How did summer go by THAT fast?! One minute we were soaking up those long summer days, and now… school is back, alarms are set, and we’re back to a routine. 😅

I’ll be honest—I’m not a big fan of routine. 😂 I like the freedom, spontaneity, and “let’s see what happens today” kind of days.
