The galleries are empty, the Museum Store is packed up, and we’re officially in spruce-up mode! The Studios will be closed this week while we redo the floors in the lobby and get a fresh paint job on the exterior! We’re excited to get everything looking fresh for the season ahead.

We’ll reopen Tuesday, September 22 at Glow Hours, 6-8pm feeling refreshed, polished, and ready for a very exciting 20th anniversary season. ✨

Same Studios. A New Way to See Us.

For twenty years, The Studios has grown alongside the artists, audiences and community that make this place what it is.

As we head into our 20th anniversary season, we’re introducing a new look — bold, warm and unmistakably Key West — reflecting the creativity, energy and sense of possibility at the heart of The Studios.

The look may be new, but what matters most hasn’t changed: supporting artists, inspiring creativity, and building community.

A mark drawn from the building.
Our new symbol echoes the curves of 533 Eaton Street — the waves, the sky, the shape of the place itself.

Color pulled from the island.
Studios Teal, Coral, Sunset and Glow — the water, the light and the evenings we love.

Stay Tuned: A brand new website experience is coming very soon! It will have bigger images, simpler navigation and new ways to discover the artists, programs and stories that make The Studios what it is.

More than 1,400 votes were cast for this year’s Mango Madness People’s Choice Awards, and we officially have our winners!

🥇 First Place: Billy Kearins

We have a Simpsons writer in the house! 💛📺 Please help us welcome cartoonist, humorist and writer Mimi Pond to Key West as one of our current PEARs!

Among many, many accomplishments, Mimi wrote the very first full-length episode of The Simpsons: the holiday classic “Simpsons Roasting on an Open Fire,” which introduced America to the Simpson family back in 1989. She’s also an acclaimed cartoonist and the recipient of the PEN Center USA Award for Graphic Literature Outstanding Body of Work.

While she’s in Key West, you’ll have a chance to meet her! Join us at Books & Books @ The Studios for a free author talk about her work, her wonderfully funny career, and whatever else comes up. Tuesday, August 18 at 6:30pm at Books & Books @ The Studios

Kickoff was a blast, and One Night Stand 2026 is officially underway! In less than twenty-four hours from now, these teams will take the stage with four brand-new plays created from scratch.

So proud to see The Studios of Key West featured in this piece on how our island stays a home for writers and artists. It captures exactly what we work toward every day — from the PEAR House residency to keeping creative space alive as costs climb. And the stunning photographs are by our own Studio artist, Mark Hedden — what a joy to see his work shine here. Grateful to be part of it.

Ernest Hemingway, Judy Blume and other literary luminaries have long called the island home. As housing costs increase, many locals are taking steps to preserve and perpetuate this legacy.
