My friend Ryan here just turned 50 this weekend, and that is actually the undisputed truth. Tough to believe it was just this past May when he was moving his gallery across the hall, and asked if I could help. Immediately after and very relentlessly in each our own way, our quests for artistic freedom and adventure flared up as if they already weren’t, and to work we went. Onward we continue pushing each other to keep climbing, and try to remind each other about not taking life too seriously. We actually disagree on things all the time but it’s great and fuels some serious art.

Enjoy this little spread of photos and short videos (I stole the vast majority of them from him for this) and keep an eye out for him and his art around town. Don’t be mistaken by his lack of gray hair, he’s actually 50 years old and a relentless workaholic. Somehow he has it all together and keeps up with me on the streets, and continues teaching me endless lessons while I rant to him about art history and fill his gallery with books and put down thousands of words on my typewriter frequently.

Happy 50th——yeah I don’t believe it either. Must be an island thing, or a painter thing, or his magical cat.
