One my favorite families ask me to be Moana for their little princess’ birthday party. It was a lot of fun! I made the costume except for the hula skirt (my mom made it). It was fun painting the details on the fabric and I made the necklace out of clay and then painted over it. Did some face painting at the party as well. This was my first experience with making a costume, and face paint.

Hey y’all so I’m working on a new piece (no where near finished) and as I was scrutinizing it I realized that I always hold up my paintings to a light so I can look at it through the back of the canvas. I realized when doing this that my goal is to see my work from another perspective, to see what other people do when observing my work. So as I was doing this I noticed the mistakes I tried to hide on the front of the canvas are still visible through the back. I feel like this could be used as an analogy for no matter how put together people or things may appear externally there’s always a bright light that will expose those flaws, insecurities, or vulnerabilities that we as humans so desperately try to hide. Not really sure how to make this a positive observation but I just thought it was something interesting worth noting. Lexie
