The Cairn of Gavrinis is a Neolithic megalithic passage tomb located on Gavrinis Island in the Gulf of Morbihan, Brittany, France, constructed around 4000–3500 BCE.

The monument consists of a circular stone cairn enclosing a long, narrow passage that leads to a small polygonal burial chamber.

The interior is renowned for its densely decorated orthostats bearing pecked and incised motifs — spirals, zigzags, axes, arcs, and abstract patterns — forming one of the most elaborate decorative programs of the European Neolithic.

Built primarily from locally sourced orthogneiss (granite-derived gneiss), with some granite elements, the slabs were carefully fitted without mortar.

Several stones were transported from the mainland, demonstrating organised labour and coordinated construction within the wider Atlantic megalithic tradition...

About ten days ago, Diane started feeling unwell... Often sleepy and low energy -- not her usual bubbly, busy Goofball Grandma self. Then Friday morning it was worse so I took her to the local hospital and she was admitted about 8 am. Against her will; she still wanted to go do water aerobics at YMCA.
She slept close to twenty-four hours till Saturday afternoon sometime, then had some disorientation. Finally Sunday began coming back to herself. Now coherent but still tired. Docs found she had a UTI and pneumonia. A relief; I had feared worse.

I only found out recently about Clapton's contribution. Wild...

"While My Guitar Gently Weeps," one of The Beatles' most iconic tracks from The White Album (1968), is notable not only for its poignant lyrics but also for its unique recording process. The song was written by George Harrison, who drew inspiration from the ancient Chinese philosophy of the I Ching. His goal was to write a song that expressed his inner emotions and the world’s melancholies.

The recording process itself was marked by some unusual choices. Initially, Harrison was unsure about how to approach the track, feeling that the guitar parts weren’t quite right. That’s when he reached out to his friend and guitar virtuoso Eric Clapton, asking him to play lead guitar on the track. Clapton, who was not a member of The Beatles, was hesitant at first, but ultimately agreed to contribute.

Clapton’s presence on the track brought a distinctive touch, with his emotive and soulful guitar solo becoming one of the song's defining features. The Beatles, who were known for experimenting with studio techniques, added layers of sound, including subtle organ and backing vocals, to create an emotional and dynamic piece. The song’s final mix included Harrison's signature slide guitar, adding to its haunting, melancholic atmosphere.

"While My Guitar Gently Weeps" became a showcase of Harrison's growth as a songwriter, marking a turning point in his creative journey within the band. The collaboration with Clapton, too, marked a shift in the group's dynamic, showing their openness to outside influences.
