Arctic Spirit Gallery received a new selection of polar bear claws from Robert Raphael, Yupik carver originally from Alakanuk, Alaska. Robert carves walrus ivory embellished with baleen to create sculptural support for the claws.
Please note that these claws were taken from a polar bear harvested for subsistence purposes. The meat is divided and distributed for the community and the hide, teeth, and claws are used in artwork, jewelry and clothing.
