Hill Country Honey - DIY Workshop & Art Studio
Hello and welcome to crafting season! No joke, this is my favorite time of the year, by far! The smells, the feeling of the cool breezes, the changing colors (dying plants can be pretty, right?), happiness and smiles, and celebrations with those close to you.
With that in mind, I would like to express my gratitude for those of you who have supported me and my journey. This business has had a very humble start out of my home (thanks for walking up my driveway, I know what a pain it is) and have seen me usher in a new studio with many new additions as well as new faces. All of which I’m so grateful for in this season of my life. Our last few years have been tough on our little family as we’ve been through some diagnoses that have taken our world and sped it up and thrown us for a loop. My daughter was diagnosed with ADHD, Austism, & Sensory Processing Disorder. I look back in my life and see some of the same things reflected in my own life and I’ve come to realize that I grew up in a time when these things were not diagnosed as anything other than a nervous tic or pickiness. I do not want to see my daughter suffer the way I did and I’m building in her a sense of accomplishment that takes her beyond the 4 walls of a school. And now that I have her attention, I feel it is my sole responsibility to show her how important it is to follow a dream and persist regardless of trials and set-backs. I’ve personally been to the brink and glared at that edge with uncertainty, sometimes even wearing that signature smile while dealing with so much in my head. It brings me to tears to think back on those dark moments, but pure joy to know my daughter knows I struggle too, just like her. She NEEDS to see me succeed for her own future success. But I want to promise you, that we aren’t going anywhere, I’m still planning on building a bigger, better business for my favorite people; my artists!
I hope this season you remember to do your part for the better of the community and local commerce by ensuring you shop small first. In doing so, you are helping me reinvest in my growing business and buy my kids’ Christmas gifts. Such a feat is hard for those of us who struggle with invisible illnesses. But though your kindness, I find the energy and ability to change the world for children in or community who also struggle in life. Currently, we are sponsoring the kids with K*STAR at the Hill Country Youth Ranch. Your generosity benefits them in my journey to bring fun to our community. Remember Hill Country Honey this Christmas, we’re spreading joy to children regardless of ability to pay.
Thank you all, again, for your generous support and I am looking forward to spending some time with you all in the upcoming months to celebrate our Savior’s birth!
