Opened in 1960, Pacific Raceways -- The Place to Race -- features an NHRA quarter-mile drag strip, legendary 2.25-mile road course, accredited racing school, professional Kart track and regional motocross track. The family-owned business opened in 1960 to provide a safe, controlled environment for racing. The track was constructed by Dan Fiorito Sr., who owned a heavy road construction company. Th

e unique 2.25 mile, nine turn road course has hosted some of the world’s most notable international drivers, who favored the circuit’s quick elevation change of 110 feet in less than one-half mile. In 1969, Mario Andretti won his first and only Indianapolis 500 in May. He used a late season victory at the Dan Gurney 200 at Pacific Raceways to catapult his way to a USAC National Championship. The October event featured two heats, the first won by Al Unser, who finished second in the National Championship chase. Drag racing has always been an integral part of Pacific Raceways’ heritage. In the inaugural race held over the Fourth of July weekend in 1960, Northwest legend Dick Kalivoda took top honors scorching the quarter-mile in 11.78 seconds in his B/Modified Roadster, setting an NHRA national elapsed time (E.T.) record. The fabled Kent track – a favorite of match racers in the 1970s – was the site of promoter Bill Doner’s infamous “64 Funny Cars,” which featured a who’s who of floppers from around the country. The track, which hosted the NHRA Fall Nationals for several years, most recently has been part of NHRA’s grueling “western swing” – three races in three consecutive weekends including stops in Denver and Sonoma, CA. In 2011, national retailer O’Reilly Auto Parts was named title sponsor of the NHRA Northwest Nationals, part of NHRA’s Full Throttle professional drag race series. In addition to its many race events on both the road course and drag strip, Pacific Raceways is a training ground for law enforcement agencies throughout the Northwest, who rent the facility to practice pursuit driving. Pacific Raceways is also home to ProFormance Racing School and Pacific Grand Prix.

Mark your calendar! The 2027 Muckleshoot Casino Resort NHRA Northwest Nationals returns to Pacific Raceways July 30–August 1, 2027.

The race moves back one week from this past season and lands one week before Seafair takes over Seattle. As in previous years, the Kent race follows the Denso NHRA Sonoma Nationals, creating the popular two-race Western Swing.

The Northwest Nationals will be the 12th event of the 20-race NHRA Mission Foods Drag Racing Series.

Next year’s event will also celebrate John Force’s 50 years in drag racing, with special events planned throughout the weekend. Force captured his historic 150th Funny Car win at Pacific Raceways in 2019, making his connection to the Northwest Nationals especially significant.

Looking forward to the start of the Pro Rush SR era at ProFormance Racing School.

ProFormance Racing School is proud to announce that we have been selected as the official Rush Auto Works dealer for Washington State. Through our new PRO Rush SR Team, we’ll make it easier for drivers to get into competitive racing with an arrive-and-drive program that includes race car rentals, professional coaching, data support, transportation, storage, and trackside assistance. ProFormance and Ascent Comp will jointly operate a 2,500-square-foot facility at the Pacific Raceways Innovation Center, providing dedicated storage and support for Rush SR customers.

The partnership also brings expanded technical support to the West Coast, with Ascent Competition serving as the program’s official parts and service partner. A new seven-race West Coast RUSH SR series is in development for 2027, with more details to come later this year, and we’re already preparing for the PRO Rush SR Grand Opening in Spring 2027.

Interested in joining the team? Now is the time to get your competition license. Our next Two-Day Accredited Competition Race Licensing Courses take place this September and October, giving you plenty of time to prepare for the 2027 racing season.
