Art by Lady Z

Art by Lady Z Susan Bagrationoff is a professional surrealist whose body of work focuses on mythology and mysterious creatures. Susan M. Susan is a native Floridian.

Faeries and folklore are the subjects of her creations using the beauty of nature within the Pacific Northwest for realistic reference. Bagrationoff (Lady Z) is an ethereal artist living in Fort Myers, Florida. Her subject matter of choice for her paintings are ethereal creatures such as angels and other ghost-like figures. Much of Susan's recent works have incorporated the concepts of the energy

of the soul within plants, animals and human beings. Her latest bodies of work include The Runes Stones (her latest), Tarot Cards, and the Chakras . Born and raised in Miami, she is still one of the palest people in town! Susan's favorite music type is gothic/industrial and she often attends clubs that spin such music on Wednesday nights. This type of music inspires her since the themes of many of the songs relate to mysterious and often magickal subjects. Susan also adore New Age music for the same reason.

NEW UPON THE EASEL: Inspired by a recent trip to Fort Ebey State Park in Oak Harbor, WA, this ancient dryad is about to be conjured into the canvas. I am truly excited to get started on this one as I have a lot of different painting techniques I intend to use to make this old soul come to life. The under painting is next, so stay tuned for another progress post soonish.

*I have added the photo that has inspired this piece so you have an idea of where this piece is headed. *

JUST COMPLETED...A MINI! "Inner Glow" is a 8" X 8" original acrylic painting inspired by the beauty of the aurora borealis thatI experienced in May 2024. If it looks similar to another one of my works, you are correct!

"Inner Glow" was created specifically for my submission for Women Painters West for the TRYST Art Fair in Torrance, CA in July. I am honored to be a new member of Women Painters West and excited that this will be my first exhibition through this organization.

JUST COMPLETED: "Secret Caretaker" 2025. This 30" x 24" original acrylic painting uncovers the portrait of an earthly fae, hidden among the leaves of a red trillium. She nurtures these unique flowers as they begin to bloom for Spring.

Copious amounts of modeling paste were applied to conjure the texture of the blooms as well as the leaf extensions nearly four inches off the canvas. Various brush strokes and palette knife techniques were utilized to give life to elements of this mixed media painting.

PROGRESS POST: These HUGE trillium leaves are proving quite the challenge! So many different colors go into one leaf, making it a bit of a mission to conjure them onto the canvas with a palette knife. I got to say that I am loving the depth created by the foliage. After two more leaves and a few touch ups I shall be moving on to the blooms that are being nurtured by this earthly fae. Stay tuned for another progress post soonish. 💜

'THE SEA HAG' IN A MUSEUM!!! On Friday the Museum of Northwest Art had an event for the artists who had work accepted as donations for the upcoming Art Auction. It was wonderful to meet so many artists doing good for the art community. I didn't get photos of everyone I connected with, but I did get a few.

If you want to bid on artwork (maybe mine?) in this auction, please visit:
https://e.givesmart.com/events/BEj/

Thank you, MoNA for such an extraordinary opportunity to support the arts.

**"I am donating all proceeds to the museum, in case you are curious. ***

PROGRESS POST: Here is the still photo version of the progress being made on this mysterious forest fae. I am just about to be done with her soil-inspired skin. I have a few more areas to cover with fallen pine needles and then it's on to the leaves of these unique flowers.

*If you look carefully, you will see that I started experimenting on the leaf colors with an impressionistic palette knife technique. Not sure if I like it yet or not.*

VIDEO PROGRESS POST: Here is a video version of the progress being made on this mysterious forest fae. I am just about to be done with her soil-inspired skin. I have a few more areas to cover with fallen pine needles and then it's on to the leaves of these unique flowers.

Thanks for taking a moment to watch this video progress post! 💚
