During this Kent Blossom Art Intensives, Kent State ceramics B.F.A. student Sarah Espenschied found the perfect opportunity to explore ceramics designs in preparation for senior thesis.

Expanding on a rendition from last year, Espenschied is working on a wall-hanging ceramics piece of a giant thistle, inspired by abstract nature elements. She found KBAI to be a helpful resource for preparing for her senior thesis project, allowing her the time, space and resources to explore her designs.

Introducing our sculpture and expanded media guest artist, Dylan Ethan Collins! ✨

Dylan Collins is a mixed media artist whose research focuses on exploring the intersection of traditional and digital artmaking methods to reinterpret common, everyday things. Utilizing processes such as drawing, steel fabrication, blacksmithing, 3D printing, CNC cutting, mold making, metal casting and found object assemblage, he imbues the familiar with fantastical dimensions, unexpected distortions and surreal, dreamlike qualities to emphasize the mutable nature of reality.

Collins is based in Morgantown, West Virginia, where he is associate professor, 3D studio & public art program coordinator and sculpture area head in the West Virginia University School of Art and Design.
