The British Players

The British Players Community Theatre We perform three to four productions each season, starting in the fall and ending in late spring with the annual Old Time Music Hall.

The BRITISH PLAYERS is dedicated to bringing high-quality traditional British theatre to the Washington area, and since 1964 has been delighting audiences with a wonderful recipe of humour, patriotism, music, dance and dialogue, with material dating from Victorian times to the modern day. Originally formed as the BRITISH EMBASSY PLAYERS, the group performed regularly for 40 years at the British Em

bassy in Washington, often to sold out audiences. Since 2005 our new home has been the Kensington Town Hall, in Kensington MD, and while the venue has changed, the shows continue the tradition and excellence that we have become known for. All productions are by British playwrights or are British in content and include pantomimes, Christmas shows, mysteries, farces, and traditional music halls. https://britishplayers.org/donate to make a tax deductible contribution that will help us continue to provide this content to the masses.

Introducing Kris Humphrey who joins us as an Edwardian for this year's production! Kris, a long time Players member and experienced Barmaid, is thrilled to return to the stage for her 5th (6th?) Music Hall. She loves the combination of bad jokes, beautiful singing, silliness, and wine that the Music Hall provides to the audience, cast, and crew alike, and hopes you'll come share the experience with her! By day, Kris is a consultant at the Defense Department, mom of two amazing teenagers (who still speak to her!), and wife to her considerably patient and supportive husband Justin. She tries to be a force for chaotic good in the world. Cheers! Come see Kris and the rest of this most illustrious cast in Music Hall, The Tradition Continues performing May 1-16! Bethany Blakey first appeared in Music Hall in 2000. This year, she reprises one of her Red Hot Mama numbers from that debut (see pic), this time with new choreography and a teal dress that was also custom made for her for that show. Rumor has it she loves the teal dress so much that she had her historic home in Frederick painted the same color.

Bethany will also debut a hot new old song that you don't want to miss!
