Leonard Montemurro, the first President of the Italian American Society of Kenosha (1923–1927), helped lay the foundation for a community that continues to thrive more than a century later.

From those early days to now, the mission remains the same: bringing people together, preserving Italian heritage, and creating a place to gather, celebrate, and belong.

🇮🇹 From 1923 to Today: The Story Behind Kenosha Italian Fest 🇮🇹

Kenosha Italian Fest is more than a festival. It’s a celebration of generations of Italian heritage, culture, faith, family, and community right here in Kenosha.

Founded in 1923, the Italian American Society of Kenosha has spent more than 100 years preserving Italian traditions while serving as a gathering place for families and friends throughout the community. Originally created to support Italian immigrants and help them build a better life in Kenosha, the Society became a cornerstone of culture, fellowship, and service for generations.

In 2025, that legacy expanded onto the Kenosha lakefront with the launch of the inaugural Kenosha Italian Fest. Thousands attended the first festival to celebrate Italian culture through authentic food, live music, cooking demonstrations, history, faith, family traditions, and community pride.

This year’s festival continues that tradition with:

🇮🇹 The Kenoshans of Italian Descent & Friends Parade

🇮🇹☘️ It’s a great week to visit the Italian American Society of Kenosha. We have delicious specials all week long, starting with a special St. Patrick’s Day Dinner on Tuesday, followed by our popular weekly favorites Wednesday through Friday.

Celebrate St. Patrick’s Day with Nancy’s famous corned beef and cabbage dinner served with homemade creamy horseradish sauce, marble rye bread, red-skinned potatoes, carrots, your choice of soup or salad, and chocolate cake for dessert.
