Happy Juneteenth 💛

Juneteenth commemorates June 19, 1865. That day was the day the last enslaved African Americans in Texas learned they were free, more than two years after the Emancipation Proclamation. Today, we honor the resilience, creativity, and contributions of our Black communities while recognizing the ongoing pursuit of equity and justice.

At Carthage College VPA, we celebrate the Black artists, performers, storytellers, musicians, designers, and creators whose voices have shaped the arts and continue to inspire new generations. This Juneteenth, we reaffirm our commitment to uplifting diverse perspectives, fostering creativity, and ensuring every voice has the opportunity to be seen, heard, and celebrated.

It's 🌌✨

In 2013, Carthage Theatre did its own production of "Stars in the Morning Sky." This show tells the story of a group of young women navigating love, loss, and survival in a Soviet military town during World War II, finding moments of hope, humor, and human connection beneath the uncertainty of war.

What a great show, but what about this fall? 🤔 Stay tuned to find out...

What. A. Show 🤩

Check out these pictures from one of Carthage Theatre's spring shows this semester, "Last Train to Nibroc." 🚂 This show told the story of two strangers whose chance meeting on a train led to an unforgettable journey of friendship, dreams, and a way home.

Even though this train has left the station, you can see more of Carthage Theatre this fall! Any predictions on what is to come? 🤔

Happy Pride Month from the Carthage VPA!! 🌈✨

This Pride Month, we celebrate the artists, performers, creators, and storytellers who make our community brighter, stronger, and more inspiring every day.

At Carthage VPA, we believe talent shines in every identity, every voice, and every form of expression. We strive to create creative spaces where everyone is encouraged to be unapologetically themselves on stage, in the studio, and beyond.
