The Art Station-Big Shanty offers a variety of visual arts classes for ages 4-adult. Department.

The Art Station - Big Shanty was built as a summer home for the Rooker family and eventually became their permanent home. Originally located where Kennesaw Mountain High School now stands, the house was moved and (over a two year period) transformed into the arts center we have today. With three multi-media classrooms, a pottery studio, meeting space and a gallery, this creative facility is a cozy

-yet-productive part of the Cobb County P.A.R.K.S. Programming includes classes and workshops in visual arts during fall, winter, and spring quarters; visual and theater camps for children of all ages during the summer quarter; and exhibitions and meeting space for arts-related activities year-round. Both our front and back galleries feature rotating art exhibits with a variety of media. Local artists, schools, and arts groups are all welcome to display their work. The Art Station also is heavily involved in community outreach, with "Art for All" activities available for libraries, Scout troops, and local schools. The Art Station is proud to celebrate Pride Month this June. We would like to invite you to learn more about various LGBTQ+ artists that have made significant contributions to the arts and LGBTQ+ inclusion in the past century. Some of these names may be familiar, some may be new, but many of these artists' work can be viewed in museums and galleries today.

The Art Station is dedicated to creating a safe and inclusive environment for all patrons who enter our door, and to serving every member of our community with respect and compassion.

The Art Station is seeking vendors for an exciting new art market this August!

The Art Station will be hosting the yART Sale in tandem with the reception for Fresh Peaches on August 30th, from 10:00 am - 4:00pm. This event will be an outdoor artist market, featuring fine artists, crafters, illustrators, and more. That's a wrap on week one of summer camp! Our Prehistoric Pioneers had a blast learning all about dinosaurs and art from all the way back to caveman times!

We had a special visit from the Chattahoochee Nature Center on Tuesday and got to meet a snake, screech owl, and opossum. We had another special guest visit on Wednesday from Ms. Juno! She was a great helper all day during camp 😛

Next week our theme will be "Mythical Masterpieces," where campers will make art inspired by all sorts of ancient myths and legends. See you then!

The Art Station is seeking artists and vendors an exciting new exhibit opportunity this August & September. We are excited to host Fresh Peaches, an art exhibit featuring new and upcoming printmakers in Georgia from August 11 - September 20. This exhibit is open to current or recently graduated (2023 or later) college students residing in the state of Georgia. Campers, get ready for an awesome summer at The Art Station! In just one week, campers will explore storytelling through an artistic lens and create amazing projects based on weekly themes!
