An observation. Suddenly health care and its cost has been the hot topic of the year, however I have not seen a major increase in enrollments at my gym Hard Knox or at any other gyms. No secret that America is the most over weight nation on the planet and yet we seem to be so very confused on why we worship doctors and Insurance. I have owned Hard Knox for 6 years now so I have seen a lot and heard a lot of excuses. My friend Rory Singer of the Hard Core gym touched on this subject last week. you say you REALLY!!! want to be fit...but you just cant afford the 60 dollar a month gym membership..60 not 10 because we are real gyms..you dont have time to go to the gym etc.etc.blah blah bs bs bs. Lets break this down for a moment. You know you eat out twice a week..average 10 bucks a meal x 8 a month=80.00 x 15% tip=12.00 +80=92.00 a month. you sat at the restaurant at least an hour per meal=8 hours a month not including drive time to get there. Most of you have a 2 drinks a week and this is conservative..8 drinks x 6.00=48.00 +15% tip=7.00+48=55.00. Now I could go on and on about wasted time and money but you see where the numbers dont lie. you are spending double the money and time eating crap food and drinking and partying than you would be spending on gym time and membership. I guess you are spending all the time sitting at the table talking about health care cost. I am going to be honest with you right now...when you are over weight..out of shape..complain about the way you look and feel..always at the doctor..never have any energy and you have a thousand excuses why you are not doing anything about it but bitching...you are being laughed at and no one feels sorry for you. you do have the money,,you just choose to spend it on other things..you do have the time..you choose to spend it going other places and you do have the ability to work out but you choose not to. So get pi**ed at me I damn sure dont care. I am sure your special and none of this applies to you..your gona start next week Im sure. With the level of fitness trainers and quality of gyms available now, factored with the need for health our gyms should be at capacity with a waiting list to get in.
