We are so proud of our ShakeSTARS alumni who wrote, directed, and are starring in this play at Kennebunk High School! If you are in Kennebunk on May 18 or 19, we hope you'll support them!

It is with heavy hearts that we announce our decision to close MaineStage Shakespeare after seven wonderful seasons.

“I know that this news is disappointing, but as Hamlet says, ‘There is nothing either good or bad, but thinking makes it so.’ We are choosing to think about all of the good: the 17 shows that we produced, the thousands of audience members we entertained, the amazing acting company that we built, and the generation of ShakeSTARS that we have trained and mentored. I will be forever grateful to the community of supporters who made it all possible,” said Founding Artistic Director Chiara Klein.

A community farewell event is in the works for May 27. Please save the date to celebrate!

We couldn’t be prouder of Michael, Rachael, and the 11 alumni who kicked butt in the opening night of last night in their new, beautiful theater! A remarkable achievement and harbinger of incredible things to come. Huzzah!

Happy Halloween!! Here are some spooky facts about where Shakespeare was buried. We can only hope that if someone really did steal his skull, that it at least ended up in a production of Hamlet at some point.
(Also we object to the incorrect usage of "wherefore" in the original post.)
