Last year was epic and we are looking forward to this year being bigger and even better! The room was packed with the best of the best from Houston and this year we have the best of the best from Houston, Louisiana and Arkansas! There's still time to register your team if you dare enter the battle zone and the hottest competition in the area! We started the competition with a huge prayer circle and we had a very positive and supportive environment! Here's a few clips from last years event! See you at the Heritage Classic!

I'd like to introduce you to thee Mrs. Ra'Rakeisha Holman-Owens our 3rd judge for the 2nd annual Heritage Classic!

Ra’Keisha Holman-Owens is a black unicorn with an eccentric aesthetic and temperament everyone would love! She is a native of the Houston/Dickinson, Texas. Ra’Keisha is a true lover of the performing arts so much that, it’s a requirement in her home that at least 3 live performances are attended each year. Ra’Keisha and her husband are strong supports of local artists and businesses. Ra’Keisha is no stranger to the entertainment industry. Currently, she is the owner of Before the Cake Events and Sassy Class teacher and spirit boutique. She is also the host of her own radio talk show, The Libra Lounge with Keisha on Vinyl Draught Radio. This February, she has been selected as one of the celebrity judges for the Bay Area Houston idol contest. Ra’Keisha has a keen sense for details and she loves seeing young artists use their God-given talents. She is elated to join the esteemed judging panel for the 2nd annual Heritage Classic and she looks forward to seeing all the teams BRING IT to the floor on February 17th!

Introducing 2018 Heritage Classic Judge #2 THE Mr. John Gray Jr.

Mr.s Gray holds a Bachelor of Business Administration, Bachelor of Fine Arts, Lamar University and Masters in Finance, Lamar University

Mr. Gray is a dance instructor, choreographer, and competition coach with over twenty years of teaching experience. Formally trained in Ballet, Tap, Jazz, Lyrical, Contemporary and Modern. He danced on Broadway from 1995-1997 as a chorus member in Jelly’s Last Jam directed by the late Gregory Hines. He's had the opportunity to travel around the country teaching workshops to competition teams and instructors. He's currently in rehearsals and will tour later this year with the revival of A Chorus Line. His specialty area is tap but I have judged and given workshops to majorette teams. He has an eclectic judging style that focuses on the technical aspects of the dancers. I look for precision, technique, stage presence and crowd engagement.

Introducing 2018 HERITAGE CLASSIC Judge #1 Shawn Zachery Director of the Prairie View A&M University Black Foxes! Get to know your judges!

Shawn Zachery began her career in dance as a Southern University Dancing Doll in 1985. After receiving a degree in Computer Science, she continued her dance studies in ballet, modern, jazz, tap, and hip hop dance. Performing credits include stints with the Mahogany Dance Theater of Dallas, Gino Johnson’s Planet Funk Hip Hop Dance Troupe and lead dancer and choreographer for the New Orleans-based, Christian Jazz singer, Malin. She also spent over 15 years as a certified fitness instructor.

She has served as Director and Choreographer for Howard University’s Ooh La La! Dancers, Ladies of Jade dance team at Morrow (GA) High School, the Platinum Dolls at Nansemond River High School in Suffolk, VA, the Champagne Dancers at South Carolina State University, and the Hot Ice Dancers at Norfolk State University. She is currently Director of the Black Foxes dance team at Prairie View A&M University.

When not coaching, Ms. Zachery spends her time facilitating collegiate and high school dance and marching band camps, mentoring dancers and sharing ideas with other collegiate coaches. She serves as a judge for dance and auxiliary units in show style competitions in Texas and along the East Coast.
