Through workshops, watercolor, affirmation decks, and creative inspiration, my hope is to encourage others to slow down, create, and rediscover joy in the process. Seeing painting in a positive light for me comes as a major surprise. Let me go back for a minute. I was going to school as an Interior Design major. It helped combine my love and appreciation for drawing, art, and architecture. Well, i
t also included courses where I had to paint. With a tendency to be a perfectionist, I hated paint. You couldn't erase it. I seriously had no love for paint. Heck, I even froze my paints when I left my ArtBin in the car overnight. My teacher was not happy. So needless to say, I avoided painting as long as it wasn't required for a grade. Fast forward almost 20 years and I'm sitting in a bar, with a great friend, about to put paint to canvas at a Paint Night event. I hesitated, but once that brush hit the canvas, I forgot about everything else and said, "Hey, I can kinda do this!" Kinda. There's the lack of confidence speaking. But it was FUN. So I signed up online for a paint challenge and did a painting on my own. It came out ok. But I didn't paint again for almost two years, when I found an acrylic pouring page on Facebook that made me think... I always felt I couldn't paint objects perfect enough but what about when the paint does its own thing? Well, I can't control that right? So I mixed up a concoction of paint, pouring medium, and hair oil (for cells) and poured my first mini canvasses. The paint just flowed and did it's thing! I was in love with the second pour. So when another great friend got a group of us together for a paint night at Pinot's Palette, I was determined to keep going and build up confidence in myself and brush up on my skills. I went on a couple shopping sprees to build my inventory of colors galore and canvas and other fun things to paint on. I signed up for a couple classes online so I can develop my brush skills and technique. I am convinced it is something I have to keep doing. Painting is fun and lets me forget about everything in life that stresses me out. 💆🏻
So here we are. Thanks for joining me on whatever this quest is. I'm apprehensive to share, but I'm working on that. That's what this page is for. Sharing my love of art. 🎨
