Walldogs in Keene

Walldogs in Keene This page was created to help promote The Magical History Tour and the Walldogs festival coming to Ke It’s good for the local economy and a good selling point.

We will need to gather a large group of interested volunteers and donor dollars to bring this project to a reality in 2019. Peter Poanessa is a Walldog Veteran and has spoken highly about his wall dog experience and believes that he can get the Walldog community to visit Keene in 2019. Peter will work along side the municipal government while we navigate this process. FPA and others are quickly ga

thering to see how we can make this happen. In the 25 years Walldogs have been together they have painted about 750 murals. These are commemorative murals and tell the history of the towns they visit. They are done in a period style reminiscent of the heyday of big wall painting in the 1920's and 30's. The towns will usually make the weekend into a 3-4 day festival with a cool vibe as people watch the murals unfold. Music outside, Main Street closed, Restaurants out in the street Friday or Saturday night creates a safe environment for the entire community to enjoy. Once the festival is over the town is left with these attractive murals that tell the history of the area and drive tourism for years afterward as word spreads and people travel to Keene to see the murals. Summer is best time to paint these murals because of long hours of daylight for painting and best chance of good weather. Depending on how many murals are done Peter has estimated a budget of $120-150k for this to be a success. This event will be sure to bring in revenue for Keene as the Walldogs have a cult following.
