Our 50th Anniversary celebration isn't just for the grown-ups! This week, we're putting the spotlight on Kidz Korner, where our youngest festivalgoers can create, laugh, be amazed, meet some furry friends, and make memories! 💛

Your child's artwork could become part of local history! Thanks to the Jefferson Arts Council and Prismatic Art Studio, kids ages 6–12 can create a masterpiece FREE THIS Sunday from 12–6 p.m. Their finished artwork will be featured in our special Youth Art Exhibition during the 50th Anniversary Festival! 🖌️

The countdown continues... just 7 weeks until we celebrate 50 years of the Mountain Heritage Arts & Crafts Festival! 🎉

This week's spotlight celebrates one of Appalachia's greatest traditions, Bluegrass Music.

Born in the Appalachian Mountains and shaped by generations of musicians, bluegrass blends the sounds of Scottish, Irish, English, and African musical traditions into the unmistakable sound we know and love today. With lively fiddle tunes, banjo picking, mandolin melodies, and rich harmonies, bluegrass tells the story of our mountains, our families, and our heritage.

This year, we're proud to celebrate that legacy with Appalachian Pickin' at the Grandstand and the debut of Sounds of the Mountain, bringing outstanding bluegrass musicians together for our Golden Anniversary celebration.

The Jefferson County Chamber of Commerce loves seeing our community come together, and we are thrilled to partner with the Jefferson Arts Council and one of our fantastic local businesses, Prismatic Art Studio, to celebrate the 50th Anniversary of the Mountain Heritage Arts & Crafts Festival!

If your young artist hasn't painted their masterpiece yet, there is still time! Head over to downtown Charles Town this Sunday. Thanks to the generous sponsorship of the JAC, this activity is completely FREE for kids ages 6–12.

STUDIO DROP-IN DETAILS:

- Time: 12:00 PM – 6:00 PM
- Where: Prismatic Art Studio (113 W. Washington St, Charles Town)

🌄🌶️ FUN IN 50: A Taste of Appalachian Heritage! 🌶️🌄 (9 Weeks Away)

HISTORY --- HERITAGE --- WHO IS HUNGRY?

This week, we're celebrating a West Virginia favorite that's small in size but BIG in Appalachian Heritage, the one and only 🥐PEPPERONI ROLL 💙💛!

Born from the hardworking spirit of Appalachian coal country and the Italian immigrant communities that helped shape North-Central West Virginia, the pepperoni roll became the perfect grab-and-go meal for miners. Around 1927, the treat/snack was commercially popularized in Fairmont, WV, and the rest is delicious history!

Today, you'll find all kinds of variations; from the classic pepperoni-and-bread combination to versions loaded with cheese, peppers, and more. But no matter how you 🥐roll it, there's one thing we can all agree on: They're delicious! 😋
