Next up when team introductions: Deb — aka “Mom” ❤️

Deb, Debbie or Deborah - Mom of the Black Tie Barn facility. Keeping everyone on track and working. Often helps with picking, packing and shipping. Handles a lot of the day to day administrative side especially when my plate is over flowing. Manages a large portion of inventory (counts and reorders), and many other things!

More about her as a person. At the center of Deb’s world is family. She’s loving, caring, faithful, trustworthy, hardworking, and someone who truly cherishes life and the people in it. Tradition matters to her, faith guides her, and nothing makes her happier than spending time with her kids and grandkids and making memories together.
She’s also a little free-spirited and loves gardening, cooking for the family, rising, road trips, Vegas, bird watching, and puzzles. She’s silly, laughs so hard she cries, can turn a short story into a full-length feature film 😂, and—because she cares so much—has a tendency to think of the worst-case scenario first.

She may worry, she may ramble, and getting to the point may occasionally require a scenic route…but that’s part of what makes her funny. ❤️

She loves deeply, puts her family first, and has built a life around faith, family, tradition, laughter, and memories. And we wouldn’t have her any other way. ❤️

Maker Spotlight: Cozy Glow by Meeks 🕯️

We love seeing what you all create with Black Tie Barn fragrances and dyes. We're excited to start featuring some of your work right here on our page!

Based in Tennessee, Rachel Meeks currently has over 50 Black Tie Barn fragrances in her collection. Yep… 50+! 😍

But we asked which was her favorite scent and she said if she had to narrow it down, Black Frost and Hansel's Fixer Upper were two of her favorites.

With winter and Christmas right around the corner, we agree those are some pretty stellar choices. Both bring that cozy, seasonal feeling that makes you want to light a candle, grab a blanket, and stay home for the evening. ❄️🕯️

Next up with team introductions: Meet Amanda, for those of you that don't already know her. My better half!

Continuing along with our fun way to introduce the team. I will introduce more periodically. I started with myself, Wade, the owner and we will keep going until you know us all (or most of us anyway). Here's a bit about Amanda. 😀

While she's not "technically' part of the payroll team, she helps out tremendously wherever could use some extra hands. Especially during busy times. Spending an absurd amount of time with me at the facility, she's learned at least the basics on so many things throughout the business. Which is very valuable whenever we're busy because she can jump in and help wherever. Picking, packing, filling, whatever.

But most importantly, for me personally, is she is my supportive rock. She constantly takes a huge stress weight off my shoulders even though she's quite busy herself on a daily basis.

So for all of you always reaching out giving us Kudos and appreciate everything we've done over the past couple of years in terms of growth, new products, and heck even the new facility... wouldn't have been possible without her! 😀

We RARELY have products go out of stock due to our forecasting and manufacturing/stocking processes. But... occasionally it happens especially during big sales. OR, when a few larger accounts come by and purchase hundreds of pounds at a time. :) But, we do out best.

That being said... we had a couple crazy popular fragrances go out of stock recently for similar reasons. Fortunately, because we watch inventory like a hawk they were only out of stock a couple of days. Back available again!

I'm not saying SEO doesn’t matter anymore, but...

SEO, keywords, search friendly names and descriptions still matter, and they help people find your website and products.

However...

Getting someone to discover your business is only the first step. In today's world people are buying a lot more from people, rather than brands or companies.

Customers want to know who is behind the product and why you create what you create.

How do you do this?

1. Show The Process
Don't just show the finished candle, show the pouring, testing, labeling, packing orders, the mistakes, the wins and everything in between! Those little glimpses make people feel like they're part of your business.

2. Talk WITH Your Customers... Not At Them.
Rather than just constantly posting "buy my candle," reply to comments, ask questions, share feedback and reviews. And then when they DO order, leave a handwritten note in their order just to thank them!

3. Tell The Story
Why did you choose that scent? What's the inspiration? What does that scent remind you of? Rather than just listing the scent notes, tell them how the scent makes you feel or how you use it in your home.

Because here's the thing: SEO might get someone to your website, but connection is what gives them a reason to come back.
