Sierra Leone Mission Trip

Sierra Leone Mission Trip Browse through my page and learn about my upcoming mission trip and how you can help me in my hopes and dreams! Hi! My name is Moriah Shafter. I am 15 years old.

I live in Hawaii, but am planning on heading to Sierra Leone, a country located in West Africa for a mission trip November 17-27th. I will be loving on children at El Shaddai Orphanage with a small group of people from Colorado. The program is called Rebuild Sierra Leone. There is grueling poverty in this part on Africa, and I am so excited to help make things a little better; Teaching the childre

n to sing and dance and holding them since their parents never could. I was recently inspired to put my hands to work, giving to those in need when I did a research paper on the suffering and poverty in many parts of the world. My friend, Lizzy Bloodworth returned from this very mission trip last November, and told me all about it. I haven't stopped thinking about it since. My heart aches for these children everyday. I believe God put me on this Earth to give and love, and that is what I am going to do. We are all here to love each other. I have so many blessings and feel so grateful for my life and family. I have an abundance of everything I need, which makes it so easy for me to help and share some of these blessings with those who are not so fortunate. I feel that since I am equipped to give, why not give? I am ready to love on these children that are desperate for it. So, once my parents said they would let me raise the money, I set right to work. I have a job on the island and have begun fundraising. I must raise 4000 dollars which covers the whole trip. That is a lot of money, and I started late, but I believe I can do it!!! So far, I have $700 from work, savings, and donations, and am working hard towards my goal of $4000. If you want to learn more about the orphanage, country, program, or trip, please visit rebuildsierraleon.com (click on my button). If you have any questions at all about why or how I am doing this, PLEASE don't hesitate to call/text me at 303-895-8542 or email [email protected], I would love to talk to you about my hopes and dreams for this trip. If you would like to support me on my journey, send a check made out to Rebuild Sierra Leone to my address: 1017 Moanakai Rd #2 Kapa'a, HI 96746. For any donations of $150 or above, I will send a copy of my journal kept on the trip. For any donations of $250 or above, I will also include a photo album. I will send this to the address on your check unless you tell me otherwise. Unfortunately, my trip has been canceled again because of rooming complications. My family and I have decided to wait in my trip and see where God takes me next. I am saving what I’ve earned through my job and am highly considering looking for a new trip to go and and a new group to go with it the future. For now, things are on hold and all the donations given were returned. Mahalo for all your support!!
