Growing up, I was a perfectionist, but there came a point in my life when I needed to let go of that perfection, if only for an hour a day. The

late nights when my brain was still active, I began exploring with paint; it settled my inner world. Yet, I couldn’t pick up a paint brush, I didn’t want tradition to set in. I wanted to explore more alternative tools and that started with the items around me, anything I could find in my home. As I pulled the trigger, a forest green color splattered across the paper and I giggled with delight. In that instant I knew I needed to bring that feeling to other people. Thus, Gypsy Soul Work was born. I wanted to break the standard way we are taught to paint. I believe we all have creativity within us and that creativity is necessary for the body, mind and soul of a human being. Expression of creativity should be open to each individual without boundaries, rules or expectations.Gypsy Soul Work hosts painting experiences that allows individuals to thrive purely on their own expression of creativity in a playful way. With the use of music, gestures, and alternative tools people are able to feel through their painting experience, releasing what is inside and leaving it on the canvas.

Together We Paint is about exploration of color, movement and fun tools. This class is for parents to engage in the process of art with their kids like a conversation... To move and create with them. I love seeing all the different artwork that comes through!

This week Salem & I went to the Albrecht-Kemper Museum of Art in St. Joe. There was a local artist exhibiting work, Thomas Gieseke. He had these vibrant paintings of monsters in different scenery. A few of them had the West Bottoms as a backdrop. The one that stuck out to Salem was a lobster train. Drawing inspiration from our museum field trip we created this piece together. Salem directed me to draw everything on the page then we used watercolor to paint it. I'm definitely a better painter than a drawer!

Salem & I's latest painting creations. We have been working on utilizing/filling the entire canvas. This is giving her spatial awareness on the page- Background vs foreground as well as how to seperate objects from one another. Salem is 3 years old. Reminder... anyone can paint.

Summer has officially ended and fall is here. My favorite time of the year. It’s crisp and cool with sweaters and boots. I think what I like most about this time though is the shift in self. The time to reflect and come inward, mentally and physically. I’ve been speaking with a lot of other moms...

I have not shared my writing to the public in many years, afraid of the judgement of others but something has shifted in me lately to where I just don't care anymore. So, here is one of hopefully many to come and in due time in my life I will write a book. If you're looking for perfect English and grammar and punctuation well, go read something published.
