Please share and help us spread the word! We’re inviting local businesses, community groups, organizations, and community members to join us for Turner Recreation Commission’s Annual Spooktacular Trunk-or-Treat and help us create a fun, memorable night for Turner families!

Last year, 33 amazing groups joined us to pass out candy and goodies. This year, we’d love to make Spooktacular even bigger and fill our parking lot with even more community partners!

Whether you’re a local business, school group, organization, club, or simply a community member who wants to decorate a trunk and pass out candy, we’d love to have you join us!

Know someone who might be interested? Tag them, share this post, or send it their way! Every trunk and table helps us make this free event even more special for our community.

Help us turn shoes into opportunity! Turner Recreation Commission is happy to serve as a drop-off location for the Turner USD 202 Soles4Souls Shoe Collection Drive, organized by Anna Rivera.

Now through September 18, community members can drop off new or gently used shoes of ANY size or style at Turner Recreation Commission. Athletic shoes, boots, work shoes, dress shoes, sandals, kids’ shoes and more are all welcome!

Your donation helps keep usable shoes out of landfills while supporting opportunities for individuals and families around the world.

A huge THANK YOU to everyone who stopped by today to support our Turner Youth Cheerleading Car Wash & Bake Sale! Whether you brought a vehicle through for a wash, picked up a sweet treat, made a donation, or simply stopped by to support our cheer families, we appreciate you!

And we have to give a special shoutout to our friends with the Kansas City, Kansas Fire Department for bringing some slightly larger vehicles through the car wash! Thank you to Station 16, Pumper 16, Truck 17, and Ambulance 17 for stopping by, letting our kids put in a little extra work, and showing your support for Turner youth.

Seeing our young athletes, families, first responders, and community members all come together is exactly what community recreation is all about. Thank you, Turner, for continuing to show up for our kids and their programs. We couldn't do it without you!

SUPPORT TURNER YOUTH CHEER! Our Turner Youth Cheerleading teams are putting in the work off the sidelines, too! They’re hosting a Car Wash & Bake Sale Fundraiser this Saturday to help support their cheer program.

Your September plans have officially entered the chat and apparently sleeping in didn't make the cut.

Join us Saturday, September 26 for TRC's FREE Youth Fishing Derby at Pierson Park! Fishing begins at 8:00 AM for ages 4–14, with prizes for the winners!

Pre-registration is encouraged, but we'll also have walk-up registration available until 7:50 AM the morning of the event. Grab the fishing poles and REEL in some fun with TRC!

Okay, Turner, we want to hear your ideas! If TRC could add ONE new family/community event in 2027, what would you want to see?

Maybe it’s something you’ve attended in another community, something you’ve always wished we offered, or an idea you think would just be FUN for families in Turner. We can’t promise every idea will make it onto the calendar, but we’re always looking for new ways to bring our community together.

So, let’s hear those ideas! What kind of event would you love to see TRC try in 2027? Comment or message us!

Turner Days Parade Pancake Breakfast Fundraiser
Saturday, October 10
8:00 am –10:00 am (Before the Turner Days Parade)
TRC Gym: 831 S 55th St, Kansas City, Kansas 66016
$8 per person – All-You-Can-Eat Pancakes!
Flip on over before the Turner Days Parade and start your morning with pancakes, sausage, and a drink! All proceeds support TRC program scholarships, so come hungry and help us stack up some support for our community.
