Intimate Apparel tells the story of Esther, a Black seamstress living in a women’s boarding house. She dreams of opening her own beauty parlor while crafting exquisite garments for clients from all walks of life. When she enters a long-distance courtship with George, a laborer from the Caribbean, hope for love and security grows—only to unravel in unexpected ways. At the heart of the story is Esther’s deep yet forbidden connection with Mr. Marks, a Hasidic shopkeeper. A tale of love, resilience, and self-discovery.

This week in the Goppert Theatre!

"While this show is a Christmas classic, it’s fitting that Thanksgiving is quickly approaching. White Christmas centers around how we show our gratitude for others. Often, I find it hard to express my gratitude in words, “thank you” falls short of what I hope to express. What I’ve found though, is that when we show up for one another, that’s how we pay it forward, and truly express gratitude."
