Happy Tuesday!🥳
I am back at my computer after a busy 2-week stretch and ready do make some work happen.
•
It use to bug me that I don’t post more often here but then who has new work that looks presentable every day? Or even few times a week? Plus with 2 kiddos running around I don’t get to spend much time with myself. And if I do have time I feel immense pressure to produce fast great quality work and those 2 things just don’t go together.
•
Slowing down and focusing on exploring and playing instead of producing - that’s when the magic happens!

🤔Shapes
When I build my patterns I pay close attention to shape, fill, void and relationship between the elements. I usually draw pretty bold high contrast studies in black and white with a thick marker or pen. I try to see if the repeat works in black and white first and then I move on to applying color. Sometimes I like the black and white pattern so much that I keep it in my collection.

One of the most important parts of my work. Color also inspires me the most. There is no color I don’t love. It’s all about color combinations.
•
I also realized that I use black and white in every design. I see them as another color and therefor they are an asset rather than something to avoid in my designs. I also love blushes, pinks and fall colors in contrast with something bright and complementary.
•
These are images of the same pattern just colored in different ways. Color can change the design so much. It transforms the mood, contrast and age of the design. It makes certain objects stand out more. It’s a whole other dimension that I just LOVE exploring.❤️

I had so much fun designing this collection. Every time I work on a new design I learn something new about my style. I am definitely leaving towards warm tones in my designs with oranges, pinks and yellows as my favorite go-tos.
